  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc WR250 / 300 Alloy Gear Lever

Ex HVUK

Husqvarna
AA Class
As all WR250/300 owners will know this bike has a fairly flexible steel gear lever (its a result of the clutch being on that side) which is quite prone to rubbing on the clutch cover.

So 2 questions:

1. Has anyone ever found an aftermarket alloy lever for the WR250/300?

2. Would anyone be interested in buying a replacement lever (subject to it being an appealing design) if we had one produced?

I have a UK company who can do it for us they think but before we commit to a batch I'd like to get some feedback from existing owners (or anyone else who may know if a lever exists somewhere already). I'm trying not to reinvent the wheel.

Many thanks...Dave

Old Fat Guy Racing made a very nice replacement tip that has held up well on my WR 250. I am not sure if he still makes them, his web site is oldfatguyracing.com . The stocker definitely needs a replacement IMO.

Sorry about the lack of response. I know nothing about 2st bikes.

Want me to put a copy of this thread in the 2st or main forum?

1. Just the OFG tip, last I heard his machinist didn't like making them???
2. Yes I would like a replacement.

Yes if you don't mind, we're of the opinion there is a need for a lever but I'd like to know what some more owners think.

Thanks...Dave

2 Stroke.....?

There is no other bike that shares the lever like the WR 250/300, I think...? Dave, I don't know how big of a batch you are talking but I bet they would be fairly popular if made out of aluminum.

Well ok. Instead of having multiple copies of the thread let's try this to keep things simple. I'll move it over to the 2st forum for a while with a re-direct, then if that does not get any replies I'll try the main forum.

Please give Husky Sport feedback

Dave,I've got a 08 WR250 and would definitely be interested in a shifter.I already bent it out a bit and I'm worried about bending it more.Just looks to be a little fragile.

Sure, I'm interested. For some reason I haven't read this thread till now.
I ground/sanded a bevel on the inside of the shifter so it wouldn't gouge my cover so easily.

Dave,
If you make an alloy shifter that won't bend and gouge my clutch cover, I will buy one from you for sure.

Also how 'bout a little billet guard piece that'll protect the crotch of the swingarm from that stupid metal munching mudflap.
Put me down for one of those too,....

Oh yeah,....frame guards,...I need a set of those too.
I can't get Matthew from Ad-Tek in England to respond to an e-mail telling me how to obtain a set of his stainless steel ones.

He started the thread in his Sponsor forum. I thought by now most people were using the 'New Posts' button at the top of the page. But I've noticed some people like to only check certain forums.

Anyway I moved it here to get him more exposure, and that seemed to be working.

Maybe you guys should take a peek in the Market Place forums once in a while for things that may be of interest

I'd be interested.

Wish I had known about the clutch cover gouging issue before my cover got whacked

have a washer welded to your clutch cover between where the tip and where it would rub/gouge/mash into on a left fall. Makes for some extra armor and the washer takes the wack and can be replaced cheaper than the cover. A very old 250 trick.

As Joe says this is an old trick which stops the lever punching a hole through the cover - the problem is you then get a washer sized gouge on the cover instead of a lever sized one! But you do finish the race...

Make it with the "washer" already built in and glue a thin delron / nylon puck to back side. This would spread out the load on impact and the delron / nylon would not scratch up the cover.

This item will only fit the 250/300/360 but they did make those models many years back. I bet you could sell a good amount of them and it would be worth doing.

I've checked and these are available to order, email reece.hoar@huskysport.co.uk for pricing if you still need some.
