• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

WR/WRE 125 for my wife?

Hello all... I am a Husaberg FE570 owner (please, no shaming comments, I love the bike), but I am looking for something for my wife....

I was an avid offroad rider growing up, until I was able to get a street license, and have been on dual-sports (for not long) and then sportbikes (for 18 years) since.... My wife was never a dirt rider, but took up sportbikes when we met... Long story made short, I'd like to get her out on the trails. I'm thinking small bore, 2-stroke enduro for her... ie: WR/WRE 125 but seat height is an issue with everything. She is 5' tall. I know I can cut seat foam, and can likely get lowering links/have springs cut... Another issue is chronic tendonitis in her left (clutch) wrist. I've seen Rekluse and/or Dyna Ring auto clutch setups available for the WR 250/300's... Does the 125 use the same clutch? Any input would be appreciated, and we are also seeking the same info on the GasGas, so if you have any relevant info/experiences, please offer...

The WR150 would be a great bike for her if you lowered it. It is real tall. Awesome bike that you will take from her and call your own. :D

BTW I have ridden all the new bergs and 570 is AMAZING.

Yep. I'm 5'1" and I lowered my WR144 1" and it made a huge difference. Unless she's unusually large and heavy she's going to need a suspension re-valve anyway so you might as well lower it at the same time. I'm not a lightweight and I had to go with lighter springs, so she might have to do the same :excuseme:

The clutch pull on the WR is smooth and light, almost like the hydraulic clutch on the GasGases. She might not even need an autoclutch. My left wrist has been broken twice and my hand strength is almost gone but I have no issues whatsoever with the little WR

Good luck in your search!

My wife rides one. She is a beginner rider. She tried to ride a CRF250x, but it was too heavy. She is 5'6". It made her a much better rider. She can lug it around all day. She drastically improved on single track with it. It is easy to start, and has the suspension and power to keep up with the "big" bikes, unlike some of the other beginner bikes. My 5' tall sister also rides it sometimes. She is an intermediate rider who rips on the WR125. The bike is light enough for her to do the one leg on the seat move to get started from a stop without any problems.

The only problem is you may want to ride it all the time. :applause:

Update:
2010 WR125 with '150 kit' on order from www.RossRocherSales.com . I bought my Husaberg from ScottyR and he and his mechanic Rob were extremely helpful. We bought the WR '150' with hand guards/rad guards and since they are also the Enduro Engineering Suspension specialists in Canada, Rob is going to lower it 1.5" and re-spring/re-valve for her and also cut/lower the seat 1.5"....
My wife is super-excited!
