  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey, looking for mounting options for a Scotts steering damper for my 2014 WR 300
Would like to retain oem top clamp and just get new bar mounts, prefer top mount as I don't want to raise the bars at all
What options do I have?
Scotts site only showing SUB mount

I run this on my KTM...

Not sure is the bolt pattern will match up for the husky... might have to do some fab work...

Thanks, pretty sure the KTM bolt pattern is different. My buddy has a SUB mount that I'm going to try. Hopefully raising the bars won't affect handling too badly. I was running taller bars for a while and I liked them for certain trails but overall the bike wouldn't turn as well. Another friend of mine had the Ohlins damper on his TE250 and it didn't raise the bars at all but it will def make your wallet thinner.

Never mind on the above mount.

Called Zip Ty yesterday. It will only fit Yamaha's. Won't work on our Italian WR's.

I don't want to sub mount a Scotts either. Don't like the idea of raising the bar height another 2-3 inches or having to swab to a super low bar bend to compensate.

If you find a solution.... please share.

Funny, I'm trying to achieve the exact opposite on my '02 CR250. BRP/Scott's offers a weld on tower & standard top clamp mounted stabilizer for the older models (99-05). However, I run an HDB top triple clamp & guards and need the sub mounted version so everything can jive.

Just an FYI, I think the stock bar clamp height is around 1.3-1.5", so the the sub mount will only raise it 1.0-1.2"

You may want to call BRP or Scott's to see if you get something to work for your application. I was on the phone with BRP earlier today and they were very helpful.
