  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

the scooter has done 5 years since i gave it a big resto and it has done sterling work. only minor issues have cropped up over time and i had got away with using lots of original parts in the resto (cables etc) but they have probably got to their use by date. the grips are going gooeey and the knock issuing from the motor just cant be ignored. the chain tensioner is in a box worn out and the rear roller is a skateboard wheel bodgied up at an event.
So i launched into it...strip the seat and tank off, airfilter out and radiater hoses removed then the exhaust (only 1 rubber still holding:rolleyes:) then i measured and looked and thought..."bugger!"
the head has to come off to get the pot off the studs... so popped that off, its clean as a whistle..how nice.20180114_165631.jpg

then i slipped the pot off the piston and removed that from the rod...all good.

piston looks good just not enough of it around the outside...20180114_172712.jpg

Found a set of Boysen reeds in the cupboard...forgot about them,20180115_152458.jpg so slipped them on for reassembly time.

got a few small bearings and a set of clutch plates for inside the cover...will check the water pump bearings etc and sort the chain roller issues
fun and games!

It still seemed to propel itself forward very respectably at Yass!
You're probably lucky you didn't lose a piston skirt while rattling around in there.

have a new shiny sealing surface on the cylinder walls with a new woosy to go with it. slipped in a new set of clutch plates and replaced the two needle rollers on the idler and kicker shafts. awaiting a water pump seal "arf arf" and back together it will go. need a couple of exhaust rubber mount thingys so will have to troll a few bearing shops to find some. i did find that Honda 900 cb tailpiece rubbers are the same as the radiator mounting rubbers if anyone is looking for them...will get a few pics

"you might be surprized how good that thing rips with the fresh wossner!"
Ha Ha nice one... im gunna have to try to start the fu*cker now with real compression:eek:
got the slug installed in the bore..how good is that!!20180209_170341.jpg20180209_170341.jpg
