• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi!
On Saturday I bought myself an old Husqvarna WR 400 -86. When I picked it up, it looked better than I have thought :). As i have recently built myseft a workshop I wanted a new bike to fix during next winter. The condition was so good that it hopefully only needs a good cleaning and new decals. It is already a runner! My 420AE -81 is now completed after I have repainted the frame, shock absorbers and the exhaust system. I will upload pictures of the 420 AE soon and my new unrestored WR 400.

The skis are similar as the one used by the Swedish Army. They also used an automatic bike named Husqvarna 258. Both bikes seems to be low hour bikes and well looked after :)

Nice Bikes!
I've had an '86 for years. Agree, that looks low hours and an awesome starting point! You even have the original hard tank patches!
In fact, if you're going to ride it, I say check it out mechanically, check/replace the swingarm bearings, service the forks/ohlins, throw a couple of number plate backers on there and ride it!

You may already be aware, but the tank will yellow if you park it with gas in it, which it looks like has not been done (or done much) with that bike compared to some of the yellow tanks you'll see around, so make sure to drain it while you park it so you don't have to devote a bunch of energy and time to trying to whiten your tank.

Eric the leg! Thanks for your information. I will keep that info regarding the tank. Just now I am starting cleaning the plastic. So for now i will ride the 420ae without the skis . Michel! In my part of Sweden the spring just arrived so no skis intill December i presume
