Had main rod bearing go on me last month and after a good deal of soul searching i've decided to keep and rebuild...so a couple questions.
Suggestions on how to split engine cases, w/o case split tool. I've never done this before.
any other suggestions or hints for this work? I'm taking my time & taking loads of pictures.
Already picked who i'm sending crank to and sending Cylinder to Millennium Tech.
Now for suspension...i had local guy do seals bushings, have race tech valves in forks...i have no confidence in front end; i did alot of road racing and know what a planted front feels like and the confidence it gives. Using 10wt oil at about 115-120 oil height. I should have sent to LT and will next time!
I'm 190lbs w/o gear, i'd consider myself an intermediate rider, who's improving quickly; ride in NE GA, mainly tight single track, clay, roots, rock, loose shale, some pretty nasty stuff! Also some more open 3/4th gear hardpack, I have new Pirellis XSCM (?) tires. I have no idea what weight fork springs i have, i just ordered .45 based on RaceTech calculator. Rear spring currently on bike is 5.4, R-Tech suggests close to a 5.8...should i order that or a 5.6.
I figure i'm "All In" now w/this bike so i want to set it up as best i can.
Thanks for your help, this site has been a great resource!!
