  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc Wr 125 to YZ comparison and queries

Hi guys
I had a Wr 125 06 and loved it but used to get annoyed with bogging and lack of wheelie popping mid range power
I bought an older 04 YZ 125 which was had had some porting work.
It had much more mid range hit and was fun in that way but it was also unrefined. It felt more raw and didnt have the sweet top end that the Husky had. It ran out of legs.
But the carby was great - always clean and crisp - not sure why - different carby I guess.

It also chucked me off too easily and I broke my hand so its now gone. Its handled like crap.

Thinking about getting back on a Husky agian . Are the 09 Wr125 much better than 08 models ? (I know it has a new engine, frame, carby etc) Is the 09 125 easier to throw around than the 07 - 08?

Are 08's better than 06 ?

Trying to choose between a s/hand 08 and an 09 about $1500 Aus difference

Cheers

I believe the 09 has the same carb as your YZ did. On my 06 swaping to a Keihin made a huge difference in mid range and throttle response.

If you want a Wr to run like a jap bike then either buy a Cr or install the CR electronics into your WR If you look at some of the mods the Husky racing teams have done to there WR bikes they list CR electronics at least that is what i read

I LOVE the 09 WR125. In fact i rode it a few times recently and it is neck and neck with my 2010 TXC250. It's a great bike. Once you tweak it a little with PV springs and maybe a pipe it runs amazingly well bottom to top.

Short vid of me on mine and at the end is a longish uphill where you can here it pull. I'm casing a GG300. Notice i don't even need to be on the pipe 70% of the time.

The handling, ergonomics and control on this bike are second to none. I highly recommend you get one especially knowing you already know / like 125's

Thanks for the vid - that reminds me of my wr125 - easy to throw around through trees over logs etc sounds nice but can be noisy
They can lug ok but I think they make most sense when using the top end

I would like a CR as I can get one cheap but need to register for the road to legally ride the Forest. ( yZ was a complianced model)

Did it have a stock pipe? My 03 stock pipe had a washer thing welded in it to restrict it. Swaped it for an FMF pipe and it made a BIG difference.

It had a stock and a pro circuit pipe - couldnt tell much difference
I actually liked it best with stock muffler rather than the pro circuit
