  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc wossner piston kit & new reeds-where to get?

just pulled barrel off 300, looks ok so just gonna go with a new slug in it for now & not worry bout a replate/piston match. cant mic cylinder so just going with A size(oem) piston I guess or am i better going for B or C size to allow for wear? want a forged piston. bottom end feels solid still after 200 HARD hours! checked ebay but only had one vendor for $210 for piston kit(still need little end bearing as well), not bad as that was delivered to my door. also need new reed petals for wr300(vforce3) or are boyesen or others better? ill email the usual suspects in BMP, Halls & Motosportz but just thought id ask if anyone had recently bought these items. thanks all. 300 just a bit closer to returning to her former glory!

Just bought my top end rebuild kit through GC Motorcycles in Adelaide, $285 for Wossner piston kit, bearing and gaskets. I have just had the barrel honed and went for the C kit.

You can go Wossner direct and they go in increments so l wouldn't advised going from the A to C type piston. Get a good mic as the bore may still be in spec of the A type diameter/ring gap and inserting the B type might be slightly too tight?

How many hours Shawbagga?

200ish. 0.01mm really make or break you reckon?! got no mic, probably should buy one I guess but im a tightarse:D

200ish....yeah the B type is the way to go. You could go to the C type and file down the rings to get the correct ring gap but that more of a PITA than buying a mic from supercheap

supercrap you say?! hmm im partial to a long, slow peruse through their wonderful establishments, much like a certain chain of big green hardware stores. yeah spoke to sheila at F1 Moto who had wossner piston kits with little end for around $240-250 delivered which seems reasonable. she said same(B size at that amount of hours but also said should mic it) but also said I could return if not right & swap over. cant source reeds other than dealers? Feeney have it sussed so you have to buy through Husky?

You are correct in thinking that A, B, or C would be fine especially in a worn cylinder. The .01mm = .000393700 thousandths of an inch. .02mm = .000787401 thousandths of an inch. .03mm finally equals .001181102 or an actual 1/1000th of an inch. People really get over concerned about something that they can not measure and you would be hard pressed to get the same reading on 2 different tools. The rings are going to be the same on all 3 piston sizes because it really does not make a difference. The wossner piston for the husky 300 is actually one they made for the ktm 300 and I have seen a couple of guys on here lately that have seized them. The wossner also requires a different wrist pin bearing. I would stick with the purpose made Vertex where special stuff is not required.

yeah OMG i was looking on there site last night. held reeds up to screen & theyre the right size to match(life size picture almost-nearly idiot proof!) the cr, kx, rm. there was 2 types that looked identical but one ended '3P682M' & the '3P682H'??? whats the diff? seems the 125 use the 'H' & 250s use the 'M'? ill just go with the M type i guess as they are the same for all those other 250 2Ts plus boot number matches up (V305). rancher im thinking ill just bung a B size in there & be done with it. wossner becoming too hard & a bit pricier, havent had a drama with vertex so probably just go them again
