  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc Wiseco con-rod on 360...

That rod ran a little while after it was bent and rubbing the crank counter weight, it must have sounded like hell before it broke.

I had several (more than 10 by now) Wiseco and Hotrods Crankshaft failures in the last 3 Years- i would not recommend any of these parts for a rebuild anymore!
Usually they last for around 25hours (Motocross)
I would highly recommend to use OEM Parts or Mitaka or ProX Rods (Its strange- but the ProX Pistons are rubbish like the Wiseco Rods but Wiseco Pistons are good Quality)

Wow, that is not something I like to see.
I didnt even know Wiseco did rods for the 360.
I had the hardening flake on the big end of my original rod after about 7 years and its about to come due for replacement next year.
Ive been looking around for other options to original, but so far I have not been able to find much or get them to send it to NZ where I live.
I wont be getting a Wiseco rod now, thats for sure.
Hopefully you can rebuild yours with other parts available in Europe at a reasonable cost.

I agree that Hotrods and Weisco crank kits are not good. I use http://www.mrcrankshaft.com/dirtbike.html Vince the owner uses the best parts and no Chinese bearings or rods. The sad thing is that the difference between a Chinese junk rod and a Jap OEM rod is usually about $8 yet the cheapo Hotrods and Weisco kits use Chinese.

I've had good luck with Pro-x rods, have one in my motor and have done several more since, no issues. Did a Honda CR125 motor for a fast guy. He provided me with a wiseco crank assembly. I advised against it. Motor lasted 4 hours and big-end blew at a scary time in a rythem section. He saw God, but luckily didn't meet him. It's just not worth it. Like Doug, I have had good luck with Wiseco pistons in 2stroke bikes.
