• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Nice photos and story, Dirtdame!
Hey, go back to that little slot in those big boulders and take some good photos of your Husky, will ya?

I'll have to....the KDX won't be up and running till after New Years day. Sudco is closed until then, so I can't order a new slide till then. It is just patiently sitting in the garage with a new throttle cable installed. I sure hope the carb body will still work. I couldn't get all the scratches out of it.:(

Nice RR. I think you did and excellent job!! You need to come up here in the spring to ride some of our stuff

Keep that KDX going. That was my first real dirtbike and miss it..

I always like to ride new areas.

KDX's are often the object of other people's snickers that have never owned one of the wee lime beasties. To those who know, they are tough to beat for all round trail fun and flat out reliability.:busted:

That's right. If you had to explain, they would not understand...

Hit me up if you are ever up by Sacramento and want to ride

KDX200/220s are the shzzz That is the bullet proof do anything trail bike, yes this is coming from me. I always tell folks to look for them as their first "trail" bike, the KDX is the easiest bike to ride well. R

my first brand new dirt bike,,, 1984 KDX200 lasted into @ 1992 before I sold it,, it went from the NY to Va to Italy to Ca in its travels.

Hi Dirtdame, I had the great pleasure of living in San Diego for 12 short months, La Jolla and El Cajon and loved it. Also did some riding down near Rosarita (forget the correct spelling to much tequilla).
Your country in the vid is similar but has more vegetation etc. Where exactly were you in relation to say El cajon?
Thanks you for the shots by the way, they bring back great memories of my youth and I was there and can remeber it.
Ciao.

You drive out I-8 east to the town of Boulevard (exit right after the Golden Acorn Casino exit), go south and get on Old Highway 80 going east and then hang a left on McCain Valley road.:ride:

Know-nothing bike snobs.

Next time one snickers ask if they've ever ridden one or, competed in an ISDE. Then ask if they are faster than Fredette, Burelson or LR.

The KDX was one of the orrignal 'can't kill' hard-enduro bikes. Still is one of the best options around for gnarly stuff. It's a no brainer for a used pruchase too.

Looks like a really fun spot DD. I've never been.

The "Jeffster" is my hero. A nice guy who still rides a heck of a mean woods race for sure.

Got a new throttle slide for my KDX yesterday, installed it and a new throttle cable. It should be the end of sticking throttle and the beginning of a new chapter of greenie trail riding fun. Next up: have the TE suspension revalved.:applause:

Anybody who is interested in checking out McCain Valley sometime, just let me know and we'll go.

new tag,,, "Just ask Fredette!!!" some of us know the 200/220 KDX series is really the little bike can and could for beginners to experts. I am a staunch backer of this machine.

Looks nice!
Now is when you get to rub it in a little on us;)
Would be nice to ride some thing other than a sled right now:cheers:

Thanks DirtDame, another worthy write up and good pics too.
Just a wee thought, maybe a little velcro strap around the rear wheel and the hauler base will cinch the beast in nice and snug at the back.
The chockies reminds of my time in San Diago, I used to hoover Sees candy-loved it and miss it

Cheers.

Believe it or not, it was the front wheel that jumped the rail.
