  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Why such poor mileage ?

I have the 2010 TXC 250. It has just under 300 miles on it and has been reflashed several rides ago. The bike runs great. Today I started with a full tank. I rode consertively all day and was hardly on the gas at all. I ran out at 38 miles. Is this normal for this bike ?
Thanks for the help.

No, should get closer to 60 miles. I get well over 100 miles on my IMS 3.0 gal (2.75 usable), so that's 35 mpg min. 1.75 usable gal. on stocker x 35 = 61. miles

08 TE 250 14/50

I have the same bike and the light does come on at 30 or so miles, ive made 35 miles, with the bike sputtering a few times climbing hills, but made 35 miles to the gas stop, the new motor just burns more fuel, the small tank sucks

My mistake, thought your TXC was the older 250....reading is fundamental.

So, looks like about 20 mpg.....

Those are terrible mpg numbers.

For my personal safety I won't mention what my 2006 te250 gets. :p

I think I got 75+ miles on my 08 stock tank before I did the powerup. Pretty lean huh?

I can see why some people were wanting to keep the cat and lambda in.....

Russ, have your CO settings been tweaked from stock 100,100,100? Yours might need leaning like Kelly 's. Mine doesn't run well with his settings. Guess they're all a little different. I was getting around 27-30 mpg before reflash. Haven't been on a comparable ride since then, though.

 Weird... That is the kind of mileage I had before my '10 TE250 was reflashed and in still in almost new condition. It drove me nuts!

My bike was reflashed at 200 miles and now has 420miles on the clock. Yesterday, I was able to acheive 63miles on one tank - Easy ride-fire roads. (36mpg). FWIW, my settings are 100, 105, 95.

Maybe you ran on flat tires all day;) Good luck.

All day and 38 miles? Have to figure how many times the piston went up and down. 8 hours at 6000 rpm (1/2) throttle=2,880,000 means the injecter squirted 720,000 times for how how many gals? What's this mean absolutly nothing it's a motorcycle you had fun for 8 hours next time carry 2 extra gallons and go 2 times farther.

I raced Idaho City this year on 2010 TXC 250 and I ran out of fuel as I was pulling up to gas #1 on day 1 (36 miles).

No reflash, FMF Q4, with Co at 104, 107, 110.

They just burn fuel, is all. Hopefully we get these 3.0 tanks soon :banghead:, from Clarke, or IMS...

When I did a Mex. 2 day ride on mostly open fire roads, the mileage did seem to be considerably better.

Love the bike though, it gets better each ride

the new motor makes alot more power than previous 250F motors, not too mention the pump in the tank takes up alot of capacity,35-40 miles from 1.7 gallons is pretty good.

I have a friend who has the 10 Honda CRF 250 with a 1.5 gal tank. He gets 50 miles per tank riding it hard ?

I worked in Redmond for ~10 yrs and never once saw anything resembling a coondog there... Are you sure U are from Bellevue, WA ? :)

Is this honda bike FI also?

2010 TXC250, same bike as you riding in the same areas always got about 30-32 MPG. I have a low CO setting and my bike runs good there. the CO1 setting makes a HUGE difference in MPG. could get 50-60 from a tank. You know how I ride.

I just got back from a ride on my 08 TXC250 ....Carbed bike .... The mileage numbers are a little large to say the least ... 14 \ 50 sprockets ... 35-40MPH (~5-6000 RPM)street ride with my gf on back ... 56 miles on 2.9 liters ... 2.9L = .75 GAL ...

I'm wondering if my mileage meter is wrong ... Its a vapor and if I remember correctly, it has the default setting here for the speedometer ...

What you say is true brother :p All I can say is I put custom exhaust and custom intake on my bike, thought it ran great but had a lil lag in it. So I was talking to a hot chick one day :jawdrop:and I was telling her all aboot my bike and she then said "oh so where did you have it dyno tuned at?" I said huh? No im a badass :professor:I make rad parts for everything! I later that week snuck into a dyno shop:bonk:, had my bike dyno tuned and now I get close to 100 miles on my 08 TE 250 (stock tank) 17in. rims. So I doubled my MPG by the way :applause:
