  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

All 2st Who has the sano seat fix? The Dr Suess pin just aint cutting it...

I've done searches for a fix to the seat of my 2012 WR300 but I just have not found anything. I'm tired of my seat falling off.

This last weekend it decide to jump ship about 2/3 up a rocky 100 yard hill climb. I made it to the top but my seat didn't.

I thought I read something about removing the szuz(?) seat assemble from the subframe and welding on a nut. Since the the subframe appears to be aluminum that might be kind of tricky. I thought about drilling out the fasteners that hold on the szus fitting and replace it with a self prefab brace and nut.

Any ideas or links to ideas...

I'm tired of my riding buddies giving me that look when the seat falls off or gets loose.

So far everything else about the WR300 rips and I'm loving it.

Never had that problem on either of my bikes. The seat fastener (Dzuz) is so tight fitting, that I have to get a screwdriver shaft in the ring for leverage if I want to turn the darned thing. Sometimes I will use a little Bel Ray 6 in 1 on threaded part so that it will move easier when I am reinstalling the seat.

Something must be wrong with yours, because I've had 5 Husky with this seat fastener and never had a problem.

Sounds like the fastener is not being turned far enough into its locked position. I had that problem when I first got my Husky because somebody put put staples directly under the faster when replacing the seat cover. I could not turn the fastener all the way in without using a screwdriver. Once I removed the cover and redid the staples it was fine. I absolutely love being able to pull off my seat without tools now!

I worked at a dealer ship I have seen fall off loose and can't get on too tight from the factory. Stare at it so you understand how it needs to work and try to bend the catch so it works saying you have or haven't had a problem isn't helping him. Just saying. I can't remember if you can get a new catch from husky to rivit on or not but try a web search if not I'm sure you can find a new one somewhere.

Just looked on ebay tons of dzus fasteners to choose from hope that helps. I have seen people put bolt from top down through but who wants to make it hard to get off.

Thanks guys and gals. The fastener turns and feels like its engaged and locked. I've wondered if its not quite locked but have been hesitant to apply too much pressure since the whole enchilada might come tumbling down. I've tried the screw driver technique but the the ring feels like its about to bust.

I'll check to see if the frame mounted tangs are too loose or too wide(?).

I really like the idea of the dzuz fastener but not digging on its current execution.

it's probably not fully engaging. You can feel it lock in when you've turned it far enough. Try pushing down real hard while you turn. A thinner washer might help, too.

The D ring, when fully locked in, should be positioned so that the straight part of the D is going exactly front to back in line with the motorcycle.

A sano seat fix? This is by far the most sano seat in the dirt bike world. Hope ya get it adjusted or sorted out. Never heard of a problem with one.

I lost the pin on one of my seats so I got a long hex cap screw one of these guys:

I drilled a hole through the fender and secured the bolt with a fender washer and a locknut.

Not nearly as convenient as the quick release, but it doesn't come off.

Sorry to bring this up again. I' m still having issues with my seat falling off. my pin doesn't want to fully engage. my D ring is almost staight to the bike, but not quite. I took off the subframe to get a better look, and appears the two little tabs are at slightly different angles. hard to tell really. the long spring tab that engages when twisting the pin seems to be bottoming out against itself before the pin reaches the fully locked straight position.

Should I try bending the long encasing tab to keep it from bottoming early. Or should I try bending the two small tabs? the pin looks ok except where I slightly deformed the ring trying to unsuccesfully engage the pin. Or is time to punt and buy a new zues part. The fat butt jokes coming from my riding buddies are getting old.

I'm not sure what's going on with yours, but I would just buy a new set and replace. Mine works perfectly since I did. This is a long shot, but maybe look at the bottom of the seat and make sure there are no staples or anything interfering with the length of the fastener. That was the problem with my not locking. Somebody put staples right under the fastener and I had to use a screwdriver to get it to lock because it was so tight.

ok so what ive observed it those tangs arnt in the right place, so you have two optons, drill the existing fastner out of the subframe and replace it with another. or slam an m8 rivnut in the hole and get an m8 25mm bolt with a penny washer on it to stop this coming off again.

Never had a problem with mine "Except" when I bent one of the little fingers that holds the front of the seat down which didn't allow for the pin to seat fully although it acted like it was.Is the pin receiver bent on your sub frame? or the hole worn out?
