• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

White lower fork guards

I'm pretty sure they are anyway!! We bought a set of 50mm Marzocchi Shivers for our CRF450 and they came with Honda fork guards. We looked at other forks while at Marzocchi and they all had Honda fork guards. Available in white red and black

Polisport has them too. Gofasters for Gas Gas has white Polisport guards that are a full wrap around much like the 2010 KTM fork guard. I think they have them in red and black as well.

45 or 50mm? The new SMS630 has white ones on 45mm forks. Not aware of 50mm versions.

Dave

Figure I will mention this so someone 5 years from now doesn't end up with guards that don't fit...like me! The white guards for the sms630 do not fit the 45mm shivers from a 2000 wr250. There may be some other configuration out there, but if you have two parallel bolts in the front of the guard, these won't work. I'll post pics tomorrow. The sms guards (part number to follow) look like they may fit on WP forks.

Okay, fork guards 80C0A8482 and 80C0A8481 from the 2011 sms630 look to fit the kyb forks based on the bolt pattern. This matches with the other guards on that page that are used on the later WRs with KYB forks like the 2013.

The drawing for the SMS looks like the guards would be correct, but what arrives matches the drawing for the WR. I guess I should say the forks they fit look like the forks in the WR drawing. They draw the guards the same in both.

The SMS guards may be shorter since the forks have less travel. I will measure mine next trip out to the shop. Cam.

Can you also snap a pic of yours? The ones I received are not going to bolt up to the 45mm Shivers I have.

The SMS630 2011 fork guard measures 12-5/8" and 13" from mount hole CL to top. Here are some pics. Cam.

Okay, those are definitely a no go on most 45mm shivers. The two front guard bolts on most 45mm will be parallel.

If you have horizonal axle clamp bolts, not right. If you have the more vertical clamp bolts, correct. I'd bet those would fit the WP forks too. Will look when I go out in the morning.

Maybe those are 50mm?

I guess I now have white non-wrap guards for my ktm. :-)

When I was looking for SKF seal kit I noticed the SKF site had listed all the bike models that used the same seals. I've got 48mm KYB and assume I could use guards from any other bike models listed.

That may work sometimes, but I'd imagine a bit of that is coincidence. That said, the 45mm showas from 92-94 use the same guards as the 45mm shivers (or at least some of them), but I'd imagine the same guard is used on the '95 43mm showa. On the other hand, the 43mm WP on my last KTM did not use the same guards as the showa. And as we have covered (I think), 48mm wp and 50mm zokes use the same guards -- and *some* 45mm zokes?

Maybe use the skf list as a place to start checking?
