• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Which model/year is this TE610?

Hello to you all.

I've been reading this excellent forum for a while now because I've long hankered to own a Husky. The one below is outside a dealer's but he doesn't know much about it. Do you know what year it is, and what is that white tank just behind the headlight?

It has 2 exhausts:

Probably about 96-01.

The tank is an aftermarket add on made by Acerbis. Probably used for extra gas storage.

Post the same question on the SA Wild Dogs website and I am sure you will get an answer and more ... on its history.

I have asked Blazes - I'm waiting to see what he says. I have been properly confused by the internet. It seems to be around about 2000, but I've seen all sorts of pics and figures. Some sites claim a dry weight of 117kg which is silly and others around 150kg which looks about right. One review claims a 17l tank, but the specs in the same review give 9l.

That bike is a 1999 or 2000 TE 610E. The E after the 610 designates the electric start model. Husky also made the competition kickstart only model that was a TE 610. I had one and I liked it a lot. Looks like the fork seals are bad on that bike.

OK so those models had a happy button and kicker? And they came out standard with twin exhausts?

Correct. The fork seals are shot. Quite a lot of minor stuff including no needle in the speedo! It appears to have done quite a low mileage, so I hope the motor is good. I like the feel of the bike - as an old DR650 owner it feels like what that bike should have been. (If that makes sense!)

I'm about persuaded to put in an offer.
