• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

which do you like better?

I had one of these a few years back, they're aprilia rs 125's, rotax 122cc engines, two stroke liquid cooled, oil pump for the engine lube, based on the gp racing bike, in these exact colours. Mine broke all the time though, quick as it was for a 125 [indicated 100 plus mph]. Next to it is my yamaha xt 125 4 stroke, wondered if you US guys had even seen these two models040220152483.jpg040220152484.jpg040220152485.jpg

they are probably very neat bikes, and probably good handlers but im betting they are very hard to find here. street legal 2 strokes are rare because of emissions, and bikes are rarely under 250cc. a kawasaki ninja 250 is considered a tiny bargain bike.

yeah I've seen a few of the 250's on ebay, would you all be surprised to know we have 70 mph dual carriageways here, but 50cc bikes are allowed on that hit 28 mph flat out? It's really dangerous, a girl got rammed into by a massive truck because he was going 70, she could only touch 30, knocked her off then a van going 70 slammed into her too, no chance of stopping for the speed differences:{ the rs 125 [the bike in pic] does handle extremely well from it's track tuning, if I had the cash I'd get one of the 250's, bet they wheelie easy enough

wish i could combine a euro two stroke with american size and get something like a 750 triple smoker to ride. now we are talkin!
actually, i want to get an rd350 or rd400 someday to complement my zrx. with twin chambers and lectrons of course!

Nah you want something that handles, RD350 /400 are too old, unless there dropped in a more modern frame. NT650 Hawk or a SV650 both with some mild work would
be fine. There both light weight like the old RD's were , but have wide tires & awesome brakes. I had a 89 NT650 & still own a 2000 SV650, you really can't go wrong with
anything with wide 17" wheels, under 400lbs & really good brakes.

I loved my RZ500's, RZ350's, & RD400, but without a modern frame & better brakes, I'm tapping out on any hard fast riding.

i hear you about their limitations but i dont push bikes "that" hard on the street around traffic. i know there are bikes that will outhandle my zrx especially because of its size, but its quite capable..;)..the rd would would be a vintage smoker piece and treated as such..
the under 400 pound part does sound good on a bike, as my rex is just under 500, down from 540 or so stock...

The bigger problem with riding a Vintage bikes on the street is the other people, they don't see you :banghead: when you riding a New bike with really good brakes.

I had gotten a Mint 70's Yamaha XS650 twin from a guy, thought I use it as a Sunday only bike, til one day some dumb ass pulled out in right front of me.
I went to grab a handle full of front brake & almost forgot I wasn't riding my modern bike, damn near shit myself, swore then no more Vintage street bikes for me.

If you find one , as they use to say on Hill Street Blues "lets be careful out there"

wher'd u shave 40+ lbs:confused:
ha! theres quite a few weight saving tricks for the z-rex....the stock exhaust is a massively double walled heavy tubing affair with catalyst material sandwiched in..a muzzy stainless system can save over 20lbs, more if you go with titanium...so the exhaust alone is a good start! not to mention what any aftermarket system does for the zrx breathing capability, its a worthwhile mod! and thus leads you down a long road...

pull the center stand & associated hardware & your well on your way....{old trick}
thats very true, altho i would gladly add 10lbs to have a center stand on mine. it has a pretty funky swingarm that makes it all but impossible...its weird but alot of money has been spent trying to figure it out. i freaking love a nice center stand....i saw that new yamaha ujm has a center stand..
