• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Which Carb Vent filter? 7602 or Uptite?

So, I know both manufacturers/re-sellers are members/contributors here, so I have to not base my decision on forum support/loyalty.

Given that, I like them both. They both appear to be quality products, and are simmilarly priced. The 7602 comes with vent hose, which is a plus.

So the question is, which is easier to clean/maintain?

Links to both for your (and future) reference:
Uptite
7602

I have only used the 7602 one but like it very much and it comes with extra filters. EZ to change them. Nice product that WORKS.

DANG! that was a quick response! :) Thanks!

I'm going to place an order with them anyway for a couple other things... but personally, I was thinking the uptite one would be a little easier to clean. Of course I have no experience with either... so I look to the experts for experience. :)

I'm sure they both dot he job well, it is a simple devise.

I use the Uptite version.........pretty simple clean-up, just unscrew the bottom, pull/clean filters and reinstall.

I agree both will do the job, and if you ride in much dust, better than not having one.

Both do the job of filtering air coming into the carb. I have a 7602 because I do not like the single, downward exit hose of the Uptite filter. Seems this could lead to stalling in long water crossings as happens with stock bikes before routing 2 of the 4 hoses upwards.

I haven't had it happen yet, but you're right, it can.
Hose on my is long enough, I can re-route up inside of frame rail if need be.

Installed 7602 kit on my KTM and no issues. Filter is easy to change. Clay from 7602 is a great resource to work with.

I ended up getting the uptite one from Bobby at BMWMCOA.

I do agree, though, Clay at 7602 is a class act. I e-mailed back and forth with him about a dozen times. Great guy to deal with. I hope to get some other parts from him soon.
