    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Where's the rimlock?

Just wondering what most guys are doing with tyre pressures and tyres for offroading the TE 630. Coming off an enduro bike I assumed the tyres on the 630 would be rimlocked,doh! I'm guessing the 20-22 psi tyre pressures are to ensure the tyre doesn't slip on the rim?.
So is anyone adding rimlocks and running lower pressures for softer terrain?

Thanks, yep I thought it was getting a little twitchy at about 110, maybe needs some adjusting in the fork clamps.
 
Street wheels are hard to balance with rimlocks at highway speeds.

Maybe use 2 rimlocks to even out the balance.

Also, rimlocks put a "bump" in the tire as it rolls on the road.

You can also think about a "TU-Bliss" system.
 
Motion pro now offers balance weights that are narrower than the ones for car wheels. They will fit on the rim lip without sticking out.

I think I broke my lightweight motion-pro rimlock on the rear and put a standard in there last time I changed tires. The thing was vibrating pretty good anything over 60. Just took the wheel off today and re-balanced, took 3oz of weight to balance it! It was WAY off. I'm pretty sure I still have some internal weights but not nearly enough.

Yes, install a rimlock. Even if you don't run low enough pressure to slip the tire (it probly will anyway) if the pressure runs low or you get a slow leak and don't notice it, the tire will spin and pull out the valve stem. Never regretted installing rimlocks on mine. Run 17-18lbs in the rear for any really tough going. Smooths out the ride too.

The front will slip from braking as well, anything under about 22-23lbs. I like to run 20, even 18-19, so the lock is a necessity.
