  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Where's the Kickstand Thread?

:excuseme:

2008 TE510, still new to me. I can't sit on the bike and put the kickstand up or down. And, when the bike is on the kickstand, it's not far from falling over.

Is there any danger, cons, or negatives to chopping an inch off and welding a bigger foot on it?

Lean the bike to the right and the stand will come up by it,s self,
get off the bike to put the stand down.
In the manual it say,s don't put weight other than that of the bike
on the stand it,s only designed to hold up the bike.

But I know what you mean They lean over a lot on the stock stand
I am sure you can modify the stock stand to suite your needs.

Yeah, I've seen the funky "auto" kickstand on the newer models at the dealer- I don't think mine (2008) is equipped with that. Mine is just simply too long, stands the bike straight up.

My mistake I thought your bike was like mine where it leans too far over
Maybe the previous owner lowered the bike which would make the kick stand to long
any way shorten that bad boy up and you will be good to go

the "auto" feature is easily removed by cutting the little knob off, or buying a new nut from vendors on this site.

the standing up almost straight up is definetly an issue, especially if the bike is lowered (the 1 " kouba link on my te250 has rendered the kickstand useless - shortening it is on my list of things to do).

This topic is going to get some good research by me. I finally got around to swapping wheels between
my 07 SMR and 11 TE 250 with good results, if not for the the kick stand. The 07 kickstand can be modified no problem, the 11 kickstand is cast and should not. I do not know any welder that would trust a casting weld? Seems Husky used the same part on bikes with the 19 & 18 rears ??? 250 with the 18 rear makes the stand to tall.

That said, I am looking for a used 06-07 TE stand and a new 11 SMR 150 stand ???

You talking about the 510 ??? If so thereDSC_00031.JPG is a dirt wheel thread on SMJ that will tell you what to do.

Thanks for posting a shot it looks great
How is the clearance between your spokes and the front caliber
with the 21 front wheel

At this time spokes hit the caliber, but not to much. I work at a machine shop so that is not an issue.
Drill and tap the Te hub to 8mm and relive a little from the back of the caliper and you are good to go.
Add the bar risers if you like to ride on the pegs. I am still in the mock up stage an have not ridden the Huskys after the swap yet. Racing the little 150R this weekend SuperMoto/ TT all dirt.
