  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husqvarna
AA Class
i just cant bring myself or my wallet to pay the PFG (OZ importers) the harsh price for one as the service from the dealers (not all) and importer is shocking so warranty from them is useless....
I love husky's but not the "lack" of customer care....anyway...

would there be a U.S seller/dealer/retailer on here willing to post/sell a bike to Oz still crated up :excuseme:

i would be interested in costs..

I am sure you will have to pay some import duties/tarrifs. I don't think our lousy beaurocrats are dumb enough to allow an arbitrage to occur between Oz and the US. Also don't forget compliance plates and shipping costs. At best a zero sum game.

dont mind customs as thats 10% i am looking for a figure posted.... if decent price, i'll deal this side..

i may have another order as my mate is also interested but not sure if he wants a new model 250 .. but put it this way, going on figures, i could have 2x wr125's and a te250 for the price of a te250 here (13 grand+otr costs..) sound right ? not inc shipping etc.. aussie importer prices suck big time !

I do not know the import duty for bikes-It is around 50% for cars.
The biggest issue will be compliance plating.
Shipping will probably add a grand to the cost.

Hay Michael, edit : this is from a dealer to me .
We are doing an introductory price on the 2010 until end of December which is $11 495 ride away in australia. Not (13 grand+otr costs..) as you think Rabs .That price covers pre delivery costs, rego, ctp and stamp duty, by the sounds of it rabs the txc 250 is the way better bike , if your not going to have compliance plates , you may as well save some coin :busted: Can you get that imported bike rego in aussie ?

i now have prices and costs for the import side , just awaiting cost of bike delivered to the U.S dock from a retailer ! :) thanks Tim ! ;)

sunstate were the ones that said 13 grand lol.. and i will ask what the adr cost is as its the same bike.. anyway, looking at it as a technical exercise... might work, might not..

just thinking meslow.. i wouldnt touch sunstate after all the drama with sunny's new 450... cant seem to get the thing runnign right at all !!

Mate you poor bastards are being ripped as usual. Im from OZ but now living OS. I paid the equivalent of 8000 Aussie bucks for my 2009 brand new TXC510 about 3 months ago.

I feel your pain.

Good luck dealing with those dam import duties. Try your luck for an ex demo or see if the dealer can sort something out to make it come in as used ;)

yup, we are getting raped ! they want 11,500 as meslowmeright said.. been offered 3 on here (thanks guys, i appreciate it !) from 6999 to 7500.. post is 1500 to the door inc customs so unsure what to do as they aint adr'd as paul(lunatick) said.. and the aussie govt like their pound of flesh !! if i can get a firm final figure from the adr folk, then i cna make an educated final price guess to whether its worth it or not but i doubt i'd lose out of it !

cheapest bike, the wr125 was 10,295 and everthing else was more !!!

Would it be any better importing one, if you got it in a few boxes, instead of a complete motorcycle? As in you were buying parts. I can't believe how you guys are getting screwed on the cost of motorcycles.

well it seems we cant as the american bikes (dont know the difference) havent/cant be adr'd (australian design rules compliant )..dont know how many things can be different for god sake !

we need adr bikes so we can road register them as they need to be for riding state forest...unreal..the thing is, theres a bucket load of non adr'd bikes and mxer's out there but the risk is 1500 buck fine ! OZ govt are greedy greedy bar stewards..

Kind of funny as I heard you guys got the leftover bikes from the U.S. in 2009. I mean how much different can they be?

You could easily get around this with recreational rego in vic.

Its not that its not adr compliant bike, is that you havent got a compliance plate...but you could get one. Plenty of people do this with bike and car imports. I dont think this is the biggest issue, the import duty could be massive cos they are already sold here...the import duty is supposed to help control and protect the existing market...how does the free trade agreement between the USA and Aus apply here?

Make a call to an import agent, they have all of the answers.

Peterstevens in Vic, they imported Kawasaki mx'er from Canada (i think) because they could not get them from Kawasaki here. They were about $2000 cheaper back then but our dollar was 55c then i know Kawasaki Aust were pissed and would not cover these bikes, so if it was easy to adr a bike they would do it. So i think you will have a better chance of ridding that bike on the moon than getting it adr (f@#king government).
I always thought because our dollar was low that's why we payed more for bikes, now that its in the 90's we are still being ripped for new bikes arrrhh!!!
