  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc where to find WB165 kits for sale as of 2014

I've looked for listings of the 165 kit being available for sale as of Aug 2014. Older posts seem to indicate a person could buy piston/top end/power valve assembly and the appropriate pipe all at once. A core exchange would be required.

1- where do I go to get a kit as of today?

2- will this kit be available in 2015? 2016? etc?

3- are the replacement pistons for a 165 rebuild wossners, some other brand? Are rebuild parts commonly available even if Wallybean is out of the kit business and have to be sourced elsewhere?

thanks

I am still going strong but it has been slow this summer(this is my hobby/read fun). The 165 kit can be purchased from Motosportz here on the café or if you prefer dealing with a Husky dealer either Bill's Motorcycles plus or Hall's cycles handle the kit too. Price is the same and all give great service.

The special order Wossner pistons will be stocked by me well into the future and I have no plans to die anytime soon. If you want a stand alone kit the core charge is $350 which I will refund if you decide to not keep your 125 top end and send it in. Most riders send me there spare top end and then install the kit when they get it with no down time and no core charge. If you want me to use your parts exclusively the turn around time is 4-5 weeks typically but I am at the mercy of my vendors and welding sub.

If I happen to bite the ultimate dirt sandwich, one of the above sources will certainly stock the piston kit. It isn't a proprietary piston but it isn't affordable unless you order at least 25.

Thanks for the inquiry,
Walt

Good to hear WB. I wasn't sure if you'd carry the kits forward given the CR/WR125 isn't manufactured anymore (here is to crossing my fingers on the Gas Gas rumors of husky engined GG framed bikes).

im thinking about gettin weird again do you think Fantic will get to use it?

I sure hope they, GG, or somebody uses it and the 250/310 x-lite engines. I just hate to see GREAT stuff go by the wayside.

Question on the expansion chamber for this motor. How does the stock pipe/fatty work vs ktm 200 pipe I see people use. Does the ktm pipe give more power everywhere on the curve or is it only in certain places? I'm assuming the kit doesn't come with a pipe?

I sell both the 200 SX fatty and the 200 SX Dep pipes with this kit. The Fatty makes better bottom/mid and still rips on top but the top is capped a bit. The Dep makes good mid and great top. I have both those pipes converted to fit your particular bike.

How much are the 200SX DEP pipe's Wal? Including freight to Australia?
I've got the 165 finally running beautifully, after a shaky start, but was thinking I might try the DEP pipe for something different.
God I love this bike****************************************
