    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Hi all.

I want to upgrade my pipe as mine is badly damaged and want some opinions.

I want more bottom end as I am an old fart and don't really ride in the top end much.

Bike is 09 WR250 , basically stock but will also be upgrading to a Kehin from JD at the same time. Also will the stock muffler fit/work (I have a stock turbine core), and may even fit a Rekluse if the finances allow.

Also which one is more durable in a crash?
 
I have a 99 WR250, but the engine is almost the same as yours. Same cases and cylinder but minor tweaks over the years. I have the Procircuit on mine and honestly I think the FMF has better low end. I know this from riding a 2000 WR that had the FMF (Gnarly I think) with better low end grunt. I've done a lot to ensure my jetting is clean, powervalve adjusted, etc., since I need low end for the mostly tight riding i do. My bike pulls pretty good from down low, but with the procircuit its happier when the PV is open and it can scream. Additionally, I tried fitting an FMF spark arrestor / silencer with the procircuit and it does not fit. I had to get the procircuit 296 nature friendly silencer. Its a long silencer and it was a bit loud from day one. It has only about 10 hours on it and I'm going to pull it apart soon to see if they skimped on the packing material. So maybe another reason to get the FMF. The procircuit is a pretty nicely made pipe, but better if you are looking for all out mid to upper end power.
 
I have a Gnarly/Leo Vince combo on my 09 wr250.... I also have the "motorsportz" keihin pwk, Bike makes absolutely perfect woods power ....smooth and meaty !
 
I´m in the happy situation to be able to choose between the combos Gnarly Pipe/Stock Silencer and PC Platinum Pipe/PC 304 Silencer on my ´05 WR250 (in combination with a JD-jetted PWK 38).

The FMF setup is indeed for slow, advanced trails with a good bottom end and a wide mid-range ratio. Perfect setup for Enduro-riding as its ment to be!
If you want to go racing, the PC-combination is thing for you. The engine revs higher and much more aggressive and explosive from the mid-range. The loss of bottom-end power is equalized a little bit with the short 304 silencer, but does not reach the energy of the Gnarly pipe.

Both pipes are more solid than the stock pipe, and even the weight is nearly identical.
Disadvantage of the Platinum is, what has already been mentioned, that it can´t be used with the stock silencer.
 
Well it looks like the Gnarly/stock silencer option with a PWK is the go? Maybe a Rev-loc (still available in OZ) or Rekluse and it will be the perfect "fun factor" bike.
 
Well I got my FMF Gnarly on Friday night, fitted it on Saturday morning and headed off for a weekend ride.
Couldn't be happier, much more low-mid and a little more up top. The bike now rips.
I haven't changed the jetting yet, still toying with the idea of getting a PWK but it runs fine? All I need now is a Rekluse ****************************************
