  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What type of damper mount is this?

Hi all. I just picked up a used 08 TE450 from a dealer. Can anybody tell me what kind of Scotts damper mount post this has on it? I was informed that the previous owner used a Scotts damper and it was a sub mount but he took it with him. Only the weld on post is left. I have a Scotts damper for my DRZ and I would like to move it to the TE. If I could keep the weld on post and just buy the correct parts to mate with it, that would be great. I see there several different ones, BRP, Uptite, Scotts?

As you are in Washington I'm 90% sure that is one of the bikes from JR's stable and looks like his weld on work. Get it from taskys? Any scotts should work with that or any other damper for that matter. just need the right dia. / length pin and your good to go. looks like you'll need the short arm as well.

Vancouver WA huh? Do i know you?

Hi Kelly. Thanks for the reply. I don't think we've met yet. I'm Dennis. Nice website BTW. I'm sure I will be ordering some stuff there. Looking forward to meeting in person sometime as well as all the local Husky brethren. I'm sure I will have a lot questions as I embark on this Husky adventure.

You are correct on the dealer. I got it from the nice folks at Tasky's. It has some of your stuff on it. Is JR that you refer to Jeff Tasky or is that the previous owner? I heard the name Bob Olson. Is he on here?

So the weld on post should fit with any of the sub mounts but I need a shorter arm?

JR is a local to Taskys dude, buys a lot of bikes from them. Real good guy and it is his track they do the demo days on.

As for the damper i think you will need the optional short arm. Might need to cut it top length as well. Get the damper stuff and then sort it from there. Will not be real hard.

Lots of guys around here with huskys and many of our rides are 3-4 huskys in the group. We'll have to hook up some time for a rip.
