    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

I currently have a 07 TE 450 but I have been really interested in getting a two stroke for the fun factor. I ride in the FTR HS series in florida which is mostly sandy with a lot of trees and turns. The TE450 is not setup very well for this. I am at 180 #s, will I be disappointed with the 144?

There is some leftover 12's close by, but I can get a 14 cr for about the same price, maybe a little cheaper.

What differences are there with the forks between the two? Is there any reason to not get the 14 other than head light and tail light?
 
you would be best on a CR 144 IMO - I am same weight . The cr 144 gets along very, very well . The WR has more flywheel weight lag - less responsive and in sand you would really feel it .
12 WR would also be older analogue ignition ?
I cant comment too much on forks other than Cr would have closed cartridge forks - supposedly better - more up to date.
 
I ride a 2012 CR 144 in the woods here in TN and love it. The suspension is perfect for the woods if you ride with any speed. The motor has quit a bit low end for a CR and I have not needed more in the hills. The suspension, motor and weight of the bike will make it the best fun you can have!
 
Thanks for the feedback. I don't see any need for the lights, and I like the idea of having a light two stroke for some of the 2-3 gear riding that we do in the woods. My wife surprised me with the idea of getting a new bike for x mas. She did some research on her own, but I let her know that it has been researched already. Bill's may have a new customer if I can pull this off!
 
I picked up a 2014 cr125 2 weeks ago. I have one ride on it so far. SOOOOOO much fun. Light , flickable , great turning and handling.
I do have a low end bog from closed to 1/4 throttle. I haven't had the time to address it. Hopefully this weekend. I'm going to race the bike in a gp next week...
 
My son rides a wr125 in the 200a class in ftr and so far he likes it over his 09 ktm150. You can also call Magic City Cycle. When we pickup the bike it did not come with light.
 
I am picking up a 14' CR 125 next weekend that I'm having a 165 kit put in. From what I have found the CR is lighter than the WR but I think that's due to the larger tank on the WR. I bought a IMS tank for the cr. The WR has a 18" rear the CR a 19" I bought an extra 18" for the cr. The ignition/ fly wheel is supossed to be better in the CR I've been told I wouldn't want a heavier fly wheel than the CR's so Im not picking one up right now. I also ordered a lectron and rekluse. With all that said if you do 2hr+ races you will need at least a WR tank. If you buy a 12' you will immediately have a 2 year old bike the minute it hits dirt so that's something. I thought it was a better long term investment to buy the last Italian 150th anniversary CR and add stuff to it rather than buy a 2yr old bike. Now if I could get a 12' for even less I may have rethought the deal. My 2 cents...
