• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What the hell are TVS - BMW up to now? (Sherco's in India)

There are 2-3 other threads here on bikes that are not made to the same standards that most governed countries expect their mechanical devices to perform at ... India is probably not alot different unless some fat-cat company goes in there and holds their feet to the fire on the QA of the components that will be built there ...

--
Few more details on what these companies have not produced todate ... Sounds like a marriage made in heaven.

BMW’s variant is expected to have premium technology and features while the TVS’ counterpart is expected to cater to the affordable segment positioned above the Apache. The agreement opens up new avenues for both the manufacturers. BMW is not currently present in sub-500cc while TVS has no presence beyond the 180cc segment as of now.
TVS is investing 20 million Euros in India while BMW is not forthcoming on the investment plans. It will take care of all the testing and development costs of the bikes which will be executed in Germany.

India has a long ways to go ..

Benchmarking has now become a loosely translated word for reverse engineering which is a word loosely meaning-----copying..... all the new laser scan tech and computer modeling allows very rapid copying to be accomplished....wanna beat a patent, or make your copycat your own? change a few shapes and dims with a few computer key strokes and voila!!

2014 Auto expo.
I'd love to be there to thoroughly inspect that "TVS" model.
I think that bike is a Sherco...

I guess I'll have to do some research on this TVS company :)

You gotta admit girls world-wide are all good posers!

Seems these guys are ~pertty big players also ..Their blue Husky is not listed on the web site for sale so maybe it is a ringer for the race team currently ...

I forget now for sure but the pics of their blue Husky was in 2010 maybe ... Maybe 009? Anyway, bmw has had this in the works for a while ... Well before their sell of the company. Apparently they have the rights to the designs? Ktm gave all this up to them?

Not sure on the dirt bike market over there and what bikes they ride, but this looks like a deal that could work well ... And I'll say good luck but I don't really think any success or failure on their part will ever effect my Huskies directly ... But you never know ....

EDIT: In the case of Sherco, they look like they could benefit greatly here ...bmw? Who knows?
