• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

what the heck is it?

finally getting around to installing the lamps and computer. the original battery in the "gift box" still has 3.2v! see how long that lasts cuz there aint no 2302's up here. i got it all sussed but what the heck is this thing? a resistor/suppressor for the lamps? a spare tail lamp bulb in heat shrink tubing? a slow match? an old shark egg?005.JPG

thanks boys.

holy crap it got HOT when i lit the candle after mock-up********************************************************************************! i idled it for a couple mins then pulled the plug on the whole deal.

hey Wally can i bypass this junk and just plug into the yellow lead from the volt regulator w/o zapping the lamps? i sure don't want this anywhere near my tank, it got so hot some snot or glue started to ooze out of the heat shrink tubing. maybe you can machine me up a trick finned alloy heat sink to slip it into...oh yeh!

if not im gona mount it way out in the wind somewhere. with what i dont know, zip tie will just melt. what a retarted thing this is!

Thought another part of the question was "got it all sussed" and asking what sussed might mean this month. :-)

Being an old guy, I thought it might mean sorted or washed or tied or figured out

well....here goes....i mounted it to the hose clamp "tail" so it's sort of in the breeze. i think a test braap round the block is in order before going out on the trail. 002.JPG

Was it supplied with the lamp kit?
The goo was probably the glue in tge heatshrink mealting, i put a clone of ridgid industrys led on my wr360 lasted a few rides poped diode #2 solderd another on then put a capacitor on to smooth out the pulsing.. Umm its blown again an thought that aint right i thought this things regulated d/c nope its regulated a/c only incandessent bulbs for me :(

You're supposed to let it hang out in the open, if you tape it up it can overheat.

Hmmm....
