  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What skid plate do you like?

Husqvarna

Ordered the Up Tite a few weeks ago. They are currently on back order with no ETA. Really like the looks of the design. Also like the TMD full coverage plate. Still not totally sure about plastic though.

A plate that offers excellent protection and is simple to remove/reattach would be ideal. Particularly with the frequent oil changes we do.

What plate do you have and what is your experience with it?

Hard to beat the coverage and ease of removing and reinstalling of the Hyde skid plate. I am liking mine so far.

Thanks guys.

Tessier I lost touch with a friend from NH. This fella once lived in a teepee and worked in a mill long years ago. A real character and genuine individual. Yes, the rocks and roots. Know them well. That plate would be on if they could get it to me.

reveile wish the pic was showing. Have seen others speak highly of the Hyde. Saw a thread about fitment issues but that was a 449 I believe. Definitely like the ease of removing and reinstalling!

Not sure why the picture isn't visible to you. Try this version.

I sure messed up that post!

Great shot! I can see the second one. Looks like the plate goes all the way back, covers the frame, and the oil line. No problems with the holes lining up in the rear?

I have the TCI 3 piece plate for my SM610, I like it a lot. The holes line up nicely for oil drains and I like that the "side wings" are removable (for service) and for street riding; I put them on for off roading. Eventually the fact that I could hear every single ting and whir of the engine resonating and echoing from it caused me to remove it for daily riding.

My TC450 has the factory aluminum glide plate. It's fine for it.

I'm trying out a different protection theory and put the TM Designs (UHMW/plastic) skid/bash plate on the TXC250. It fits very nicely and is easy on and off for oil changes (I skipped the center clamps) and it's slick and quiet.

I love the Hyde on my crf. I haven't talked myself into ordering one for the TXC yet...mostly due to the price and a little because I haven't even ridden the bike yet.

Holes lined up perfectly. I have had it off and on 3 times already and IMO it's very easy.

Hall's is awesome! Every time I have dealt with them it has been positive. I am lucky enough to have them only 1 1/2 hours from my home too. If I didn't have a Hyde I'd be all over that Uptite plate. Looks awesome:applause:
On a side note, I do like my Hyde skid plate so far. After the first good ride I noticed that the top front of the plate melted from the FMF powerbomb being too close but it self molded itself and is now fine. The stock header would not have done this but I have a TC250 full exhaust on a TE310 so some compatibility issues can't be blamed on Hyde IMO. Not a big deal and now it is custom molded to my bike:thumbsup:

That is living a dream having such a quality dealer within reasonable distance! And to have a custom molded skid plate!

Haven't fired her up to check the noise from the aluminum plate. It appears to have a gap between it and the tubes in between the mounting points. Until now the charcoal canister had been on. Extended the hose from gas tank to canister using the section of hose from the bottom of the canister. Its now tucked in the frame and runs down under the engine. I suppose this is acceptable since seeing this same hose run down the triple clamp/gooseneck.

B&B offroad make bullet proof skid plates as well.

Yeah, but I find the bits near the clutch and stator stick out to close to the brake and gear shifter. im forever trying to shift down or brake and catching my boot on the skid plate.
