    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

What size hex wrench do I need to buy to change the oil in my SM610?

My SM 610 didn't come with a hex wrench for the main drain hole? What size do I need to run out and buy? Man, my first oil change has been way too difficult because 10w-60 is impossible to find locally and now this :banghead:

:thumbsup:(And between Motosportz and 7602 Racing, you can almost streamline the 610 to the point that you can take it completely apart using one size socket wrench....

Got the tool and changed the oil. I'm still a bit annoyed that Husky recommends 10w60 though. Researched online and found that others were having trouble finding it as well. Also read that the latest owners manuals now recommend 10w50. So maybe Husky has realized that 10w50 is more readily available than 10w60. Nonetheless, I'm back in love with my bike now that the oil change is over with. Hey, and don't get me wrong... I still feel that this is best factory SM offering.
 
I'm actually using 20w50 car oil. Don't know if it's different to the bike version. Seems to be ok.
I am doing an oil change soon and will try the recommended 10w60. Should i use a flush of some sort to clean out the old oil before replacing it?

My understanding is, car oil is bad for clutch's.
 
Any oil needs to be labelled as suitable for a wet clutch. The "JAMA-MA" certification should be on the bottle. This is true whether you favor dino or synthetic. Some "car/truck" oils have this certification, such as Rotella synthetic.

You mean JASO-MA.

Yes, regular car oil is bad for wet clutches. It causes them to slip because of friction reduction additives.
 
Amsoil 10-40 or 20-50 motorcycle synthetic oil are awesome and wet clutch compatible!!! Yay for another oil thread j/k :-)
