  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc What prices to expect from a part out of 165?

Just curious as to what prices on a 2008 CR165.....

Everything is there including a title.....

For now its too much bike and I cant afford another so it must go..... onto a crf230/TTR230 or a PR4

Why part it out instead of selling it whole? There's a chance you might get a little bit more, but then you have to deal with the hassle of tearing it apart and shipping stuff.

I feel your pain racemx904.I have had my 2013 Tc 250 for sale for over a month and have had very few takers. I refuse to just give it away.$3200 for my bike is more than fair and I am sure you feel the same about yours. Thank Dirt bike mag and that guy who said the bikes are slow. Might just have to do what your are thinking of doing. My lust for a Fc 350 is driving me.

PR4 is the way to go if you're not happy with the 165 2 stroke and want a mellower trail bike. I think a CRF230 or TTR230 type bike will quickly get old and not be anywhere near as fun as a PR4 (or similar bike).

And I'll echo the sell it whole message. Parting things out, shipping them (how many people within an easy drive need your parts?-probably not that many) is a complete pain and does not work out once you factor in your time and hassle IMO.

Unfortunately the pre-KTM Huskies were often deeply discounted from new and used prices are horrible. When I bought my '06 WR125 used I knew I wouldn't get anything for it when it came time to sell it, which is normal for 125's but even worse since its a Husky. And I'm ok with that.

Good luck either way you go. -Ed

I would definitely rather sell whole but so far its not looking good... lol

Its not that I need a mellower bike or that I'm not happy with it.... but right not with a screwed up leg healing its hard to get it over the 165.... I'll prolly end up keeping it and just dealing with it.... so far my riding buddy (my son on a kx65) likes riding the hard stuff for him which means a lot of slow riding which is not fun on a 165.... llol

Thanks guys

I think the bike can be made to work well in the tight and slow. Sell your ignition, get a wr ignition to soften up the hit. Personally, I would keep the cr ignition. You will come out ahead on this I'm sure. Add a rekluse. Done. My girls went to a cr125 after the ttr125. They ride slow and the bike was great for them. A bit of investment the bike will last you and then be ready for your son to take on. The small bores are easy on tires, chains, sprockets and maintenance. At the end of the day, the are economical to own and easy to ride. It can also hold its own when you wick it up too. I'm always the smallest bike in the group but seldom left behind.
