• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

@HuskyMike has KINDLY dropped of Ralph's Tr650 for about 2 weeks. It is up on the stand and ready for some dissection.

Here is the requested list of 'To Do's' so far,

1. I will be measuring up the forks and triple clamps to see what is needed to do the YZ front end conversion.

2. Measuring the rear suspension links to see if a raising link is viable.

3. Measuring the rear brake lever to make an 'over the top' pedal

4.....

Does anyone have any ideas or wishes that I can look into while I have the scooter in my possession to measure what is needed?

Please add it here or PM/email me

Cheers
C

Yep, take the luggage off it and fit some form of rear fender support before it all falls in a heap.

Without knowing what has already been modded on the bike, it is hard to say what is needed.

Cannisterectomy, De Cat, Thermostat Delete etc etc.

Hmmm...new handle bars..stronger...I would love to be able to justify a Safari Tank.
Got most other stuff.....

A headlight guard that works with the Madstad windscreen would be awesome! I'd like an "over the top" brake lever too. I have many farkles already, but if someone makes a beautiful piece of kit at a reasonable price I will gladly pull the trigger.

I'm happy with the suspension right now. When it's time for a rebuild I will be taking it to Cogent or Ohlins since they are both right in my backyard. Went out for a beer with an Ohlins rep way back and he offered to look at the bike and figure out suspension options... I never took him up on it for fear I would actually pay for whatever they came up with $$$$$.

It was mentioned long ago, with not a lot of correspondence about it. A chain tensioner or chain guide. Not sure if the tensioner would be a good idea for high speed street use. But either of these two would allow to run the chain looser, unlike how freakin' tight they come from the factory.

I will look into a rear fender support.
The rest are not in my scope of work

I will look into a chain guide on the sprocket side

Designing parts old school with modern twist. :)

By request, a fender support bracket for the Terra

1.Basic design with cardboard, scissors, scalpel and a rule.
2.Add the info into a CAD program
3.Print the profile out 1:1 scale and glue to a piece of cardboard.
4.Cut out. Score along fold lines. Fold. And check fitment.
I'm happy it will work as intended and so the info was sent to the lasercutters for quotation.
5.The production model will be made from stainless steel

Is there any point in considering a rear grab handle reinforcement of some kind, similar to what you have done with the rear fender support?
For those that don't have panier racks which support rear subframe loads, the weight of tailpack loads rests directly on this sub-par member.
