  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

125-200cc WB177 Ride Report (short one)

Nice report. I've got the same setup (36 lectron, FMF & 10oz fww) minus the stroker crank. Mines setup for race gas and pulls pretty good.

I'd love to compare them someday..... like maybe this August!?!? Assuming you're not laid up from surgery would you be interested in joining me and a buddy in Downieville in early to mid Aug? I'll be in the sierra for 2 weeks and looking to finally hit D'ville.

We can probably work that out. Touch bases when it's closer.
 
Once again I am the odd one here. My CR 165 without flywheel weight runs 13/52 everywhere from wide open desert to tight in the trees. I do run 12/52 at King of the Moto and Last Dog Standing Won LDS the last 2 years beating all the open bikes in the 50A I just do not understand how you could run 13/48 and a weight
I did try 14/52 once and it was way to high
I might be on a new Husky TE/TC 125 for next year Remember when everyone tried to turn there WR into a Cr

Well I am trying to figure out if a new Husky combo of TC/TE 125 can run with the big boys. Mr Walt told me go for it and he has a few new untested ideas for the new Husky

I just can not believe that the little Husky can do these events. It is not about me, it is the little bike that makes it happen. Now with the new TE coming I want to if possible try it again on a new Husky. There is no marketable gain for Husky if a old Italian bike does well. But if there new TE 125 can win or do well there is something to market. The TE 300 is a great bike and will sell it self, but the TE 125 might need a little push if they want to sell it to a off road market full of 250 and 300 . Other then us old guys who would purchase a 125 to race off road and then have to race it against the 250 and open class .Even the 125 class goes to 200cc

125s are semi popular here in the deep woods where they tend to shine for those who like them. Will always be a bit of an odd bike but I turned a lot of people into them and they are doing the same. Jake and friends have several. If your open minded and flexible the 125 class bikes can be super fun and have more ability that you might first think.
 
Could anyone speak to how the 165 or the 177 would compare to a late model KTM200. I've had a couple of 200's so I know how they preform and where they are as a benchmark. Just looking for another angle or comparison. This WB165 for East Coast singletrack sounds awesome. A couple of my shorter friends would love one but they all want the E-Start option that's on the newer KTM200's...
 
I Will give you a side by side comparison on ktm to 177 this weekend HOPFULLY I see one of guys I ride with left his 200 at my place:). My plan to finish 177last weekend failed my 13 year old son messed up went down hard an broke wrist so spent Saturday in ER.
 
177 up and going with dep pipe this bike rocks . Side by side with ktm 200 same or better tq and lugging ability but it revs like 125 when you want to . On the motocross track it works like good running 125 but if your gear to high it will still pull though it . My son rides ktm 125 he ways 85 pounds less than me but 177 runs good enough to make up that 85 pounds .
 
Hope you are getting your shoulder fixed up Nate. Keep us up to date on your progress.

The doc is going to try a few tricks orthoscopicly and then some retraining of the muscles through very specific physical therapy. That's going to put me out for 4-5 months. If it doesn't work I'll need a more intrusive surgery that will put me out for a year. Right now I can't even do a push up without it poping out of socket.

Thanks for your concern. If the 177 doesn't sell it won't hurt my feelings much, it's an unbelievable bike. I could use the money to help with out of pocket medical expense but not the end of the world.
 
I might have a home for your bike. I am going to talk to the guy tomorrow. He has wanted to buy my 09 but I didn't want to sell. It has been 5 months so he might have already pulled the trigger on something else. Hope your doc's strategy works. Major surgery always takes time and raises mental phobias on whether to stress it or not.

I believe I own a 2009 WR 125 that you sold in Moab to a guy named Bryan ! I own the bike now and I absolutely love it ! I keep up with buddies on their KTM 300's ! I live in the Denver area.

Thanks. I think I've got myself convinced to try the physical therapy without the surgery and see if I can get it strong enough to hold. I guess targeted shoulder exercises can really make a big difference. I dislocated this shoulder at age 12 playing football and it's been a problem ever since.

Yeah I remember that bike. What a peach! Glad you like it. That thing only had about 8 hours on it when I sold it. I had 4 of these little bikes in my garage and had to downsize the inventory. I've only got two in there now, my 177 and the kids 125.
 
Hang in there with the surgery/rehab and you will be back in the saddle. Hopefully no surgery and just PT for ya ! My other ride is 2008 KTM 530 and the WR 125 is completely opposite the 530 which is exactly what I wanted ! I can throw the bike around quite easily and I am 5'08" 170. I put the 2.8 gal IMS tank on it and eventually will go to the 165 kit. Its like riding a pissed off moped that handles really well ! I tried to get a CO registration for it but can't be bothered to go through all the nonsense to get it legit. I noticed the deadspot in the upper range of RPM's and learned if you stay on the throttle and let it build RPM's you get passed the dead spot and it continues to make power. Really enjoy the bike and never thought I would be on a 125. It has definitely improved my skills on both the 125 and 530. Get well soon Bro !
