• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Walker Valley Closure?

I am hearing rumblings of the DNR trying to close down Walker Valley. I was wondering if anyone knows this to be a fact, or just rumor? A friend of mine also said that Reiter Pit was closed. Any comments?

Walker valley is open, reiter is closed. I went out today and made some repairs to one of our recently built trails and as I was 1/4th of the way into the trail a couple of qwads came riding up asking if I had seen their buddies on bikes. I have to say I was pissed the trail is single track with bollards on each end that say motorcycle only!!! The misuse of trails will be the end of walker as well, the damage done by the 2 qwads was frightening in a single pass!

I know I'm in a different location but the quad problem is everywhere:thumbsdown:I spend a lot of time repairing & making trails & no matter how they are marked the quads try to find a way thru. I'm about to lay some trees over & route some single track & maybe they will either quit or start working on trails themselves:banghead:

Just recently at one of our best trail systems some guys in a side by side were trying to get over a 2' wide dirt bike bridge on their way to destroy some single track.

You might have to start a seperate section for rants about quads.

If soil erosion is a problem, whether it's started by bikes or quads expect to see closures. Even mountain bike trails around Vancouver are being shut down once they get to chewed up

I have worked in this one trail system since 1972. Motocycles have been there from the beginning. We had occasional erosion & some work needed to be done but when the quad phase started there was no way we could keep up! The ruts & holes are unbelievable & some are impassable. In some area's the quads can't even get thru. What is the fun in that?
