  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Valve clearance issue SMR511

Hi there,

My bike went back to the dealer due to a leaking head gasket just after 2,500 Km's. They have replaced the gasket and started to put bike together however found issue with valve clearance and it is way off.

Clearance on the exhaust valves are fine however the inlet valves are way off. Clearance should be 0.1mm to 0.15mm however it is 1.25mm**************************************** Anyone have any suggestions as the dealer has no clue have even the got the husky dealer of Australia tech to have a look at it and doesn't have a clue. They are throwing up the suggestion of a brand new cylinder head!!!

Any help will be greatly appreciated as my bike has been out of action now for 6 weeks and just want to be able to ride again.

Note: Anyone with a husky in Melbourne, Australia do not take it to A1 motorcycles they have no idea on what they are doing and have really messed me around.

Shims are in as you know for this engine they are half balls for the intake. Got a call from the dealer then and is pretty sure I will be getting a brand new cylinder head as looks like the valve seat isn't right

Heard decent things about Road and River down in Geelong, most of the bigger joints just churn through bikes during services.

Was the bike running normally when you took it in?

It was running however it did feel under power when you opened up the throttle (which would make sense). The more i hear from other people about this I feel that has already been under powered since I have had it. Will hopefully get confirmation on what is going to happen by the end of the day but the mechanic is 90% sure to fix the issue a new cylinder head is needed
