• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

valve adjustment

Husqvarna
i recently bought an 07 sm510. the bike has had an oil change every 1000 miles, the bike has 5000 miles on it now but never a valve adjustment.

im pretty mechanically inclined so im going to do it myself. what i dont know are the measurments for the exhaust and intake valves. anyone help me out?

also does anyone know where i can get a manual for this thing?

any other tips on maintenance is greatly appreciated

thanks

if you are mechanically inclined it shouldn't be an issue. super easy to check/adjust the valves on these bikes, not quite as easy as ktm's or screw type adjusters, but you dont have to pull the cams if you need to change a shim.

This may be a dumb question, but here goes...
I bought my 2008 TE250 new and the sticker under the seat says...
Intake .10 - .15 mm
Exhaust .15 - .20 mm
I had the 300 kit put on in 2009 and for the first time am going to check the valves....should I keep these same specs now, or does the 310 have different:excuseme:

Same specs for all the newer 2 cams. 250/310/450/510...

Not sure about the new ultralight engine however, and I know the 610 is a different beast all together.

Thanks Coffee...this information combined with your handy-dandy video ought to make this routine maintenance a snap:thumbsup:

I just wish everything in life was as easy as adjusting/checking the valves on an Husqvarna...

Once after paying the dealer to check & adjust my te450 valves someone told me to just pull the cover and wiggle the rockers, if there is play not to worry about it.

Was that an accurate/decent suggestion?

No I don't think that is a decent suggestion. All it takes is a few minutes and a feeler gauge to check them.

Our Husky's stay in spec longer than KTM's -promise

No kidding.. 8000 miles on my TE510 and the valve lash is still in spec and has never required adjustment.
