  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Value of my setup?

With the furloughed govt still sticking it to me, the Husky will have to be the first thing to go. I wonder how much my '09 TE510 is worth here in SoCal with 4,000 miles, skid plate, desert tank, scotts steering damper, registered for street. Has the stock dirt setup and a complete SM setup (wheels complete with rotors and sprocket, caliper mount, shorter kickstand). Swaps out in about 30 minutes and is quite useful here as desert season only lasts about 5 months. I hate the thought of letting it go, but the kids gotta eat! Not ready just yet, but another week or 2 and I'll have no choice.

I hear ya, but can't say I'm not worried. Aside from that, I've never seen a packaged setup like this around here. I've got about 6k into it and doubt I'll get that back, but would expect somewhere around 5. It's hard to find used, complete wheels for less than a grand.

From what I understand, the military is affected. I got my disability payment. I have no idea how but I still get my contractor pay too

Mil is getting paid. I'm a retired contractor, currently on forced leave that runs out tomorrow, not working or paid after that. I got checks for retirement, disability, and GI bill this month, but all four checks won't be here on the 1st.

You'll get back pay. Stick it out and hold onto your bike, unless there is some other reason for selling it.

Yeah I hear you. If it isn't the government shut downs, it's worrying if contracts will be renewed.
