I picked this bike up recently. It was very rich running. We found the float level off, the pilot jet plugged up, the spring on the needle and seat missing, the choke piston was sticking and the lever was bent. We replaced everything from our used parts bin and installed a new #45 pilot jet. Now she runs a lot better and there is no fin rattle with the piston and cylinder and she has tons of compression. Our problem is the throttle doesn't feel crisp and she doesn't seem to rev up the way it should? What's the problem the carb is fine now.
Timing way too far retarded?
Maybe the PO seized it, but it wouldn't have all that compression it has. She kicks back if you don't kick it hard enough.
The heavy blue smoke has stopped but it has enough to know it's a two stroke. The tranny oil level is good.
I'm thinking to check the timing next. Then if that's ok pull the pipe and inspect the piston.
I have new boseen reeds but I didn't install them yet. I'm on the brink of ordering a new piston, bearing set, seal n gasket set......but the compression has me confused. If it's been seized it wouldn't have so much compression.
Let's call this one confused, I am... bigbill
