• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Useable capacity for 2008 Te 610 gas tank?

His Pistolship

B Class
Howdy All,

I'm wondering what the real usuable fuel capacity of a 2008 610 is. The specs say around 3 gallons, but I don' believe it. My guess is 2.5 usuable capacity, but i haven't run the bike dry to really find out. I'm looking for higher fuel capacity for a TAT trip.

I can't answer for the TE crowd but my '09 SM610 is around 2.5 gallons each fill up. So I think your are spot on with your thinking. If your bike isn't FI, they make aftermarket fuel tanks that are much larger capacity. Good luck!

Eric

Usually get the reserve light at 2.4-2.5 gallons and I have gone 20+ miles after that. I think 3 gallons is probably close. If I am not too wild with the throttle I have a 150-160 range.

My bet is around 2.8... I've put in more than 2.5 gallons in at the pump. I get around 50mpg, and usually refill it at 120 mile mark. +1 on getting around 20 miles after the light goes on.

3.19 gallons. I know this because I literally coasted into a gas station out of gas. I filled the tank to nearly overflowing to get the 3.19 gallons into it. This is for a 2008 Husqvarna 610SM.

That makes sense. I usually dont fill right to the brim (dont quite trust the cap on those things not to leak).

The IE version does get better mileage than the carb version. When a buddy tuned up his carb 610 he got 45mpg with careful riding.

Mileage varies. I can beat on my carbed SM610 through the twisties for 150 miles. I'm looking for gas at 160. 3.7 gallon tank.

I put in 2.75 gals a few times. On the TAT, I averaged 63 miles to the gallon, so that gives me 173 miles without running out. I was riding the TAT together with a new KTM500 EXC rider and we kept the throttles open where we could.
