• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Attached is a pic of the Unadilla 2010 race track .... Isn't this more of a EU GP style track? Are the modern tracks rough anywhere other than ruts in the corners? Are whoops out of style ?

Some of the other tracks in the series have whoops and were definitely rougher than that track. DeSalle, the rider from Belgium did well on that track and it's the first race he's done in this series (pretty sure), so it may suit Euro riders just fine.
 
...have you seen Washougal? Elevation, jumps, whoops .. hardly a smooth spot once you leave the starting straight.
 
interesting question! the individual national tracks all have there own crews that biuld the tracks, but there is one guy from mx sports that makes the decision on what is allowed on national day as far as design, watering, ect... he shows up 3-4 days before the ama race and basically takes over. any changes to the track must be approved by him.the track owner gets to do all its track prep and watering before the 1st practice takes off, then nothing else is done. they want to let the track develop as the day goes on, and they also think the rougher the better. the head dude will let the dozer guys in for maybe a moment to fix possible jump face and landing issues if they become dangerous, but they will only allow a couple minutes for repair. with live tv it is getting harder for track repair. the track crew at a recent national got there asses handed to them for watering when they were told not to! unadillas second moto was way rougher than it looked like on tv. also there are way more jumps at unadilla now than there has ever been. washougal was actually smoother this year than they wanted it to be, no sawdust was put in the ground this year, and it never roughed up. whoops are a constantly changing evolution. no body wants to see these tracks go all supercross, but the pro riders want to jump. roller sections seem to work better outdoors than stadium style whoops, so track biulders try and biuld whoop sections that have a mutiple combination of lines through them. i have always thought glen helen separated the men from the boys and am sorry to see it off the schedule, mostly because of spectator views, will remain to see how pala does with spectators and parking.
 
Dont let photo's and TV watching fool ya. The Unadilla track in New Berlin in rutted and rough. Those guys and photo's make it look WAY TO EASY!

He rode Washougal last year, brought his suspension over, rode basically a stock Honda and had one of the fastest laps in practice. He was mostly a privateer but he did get some support from Honda because they made him put a red front fender on his bike. :D
