  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Universal key ignition switch

Pro Class
OK so i bought one of those universal duel sport key ignition switches that supposedly wires into kill switch. Problem is there where no instructions. Just 4 wires-lol. Theres a black wire, black and white wire, green and red wire. Any clue what goes where?

One of those pairs of wires will probably be normally open and one normally closed.

When it's in the off position one of the pairs breaks the connection to the lights circuit and the other pair shorts out the stator coil that drives the ignition coil.

I see your model has a cdi. Does it have full lights and speedo or just a stop switch? In the manual there are 2 diagrams. One that says usa excluded and one with no lights.

As you can see on attached diagram the one with lights the line coming out of the cdi going to the main switch control marked W-R is the engine stop line from the cdi. As you can see it goes through the engine kill switch to B. Which is chassis ground.

Manual says B is blue, W is white and R is grey. But it also says Gr is grey so who the heck knows.

You just need to find the wire going from the cdi to your engine kill switch and connect your switch to that wire and the other wire to ground.

To find which 2 wires use a multimeter or a tester. Or you could just hook up one set of wires and see if it starts with the switch in the off position.
