  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Ok local dealer is giving me a great deal on this 15 fc450. From what I've read it's basically a ktm. Opinions on this bike vs a Japanese bike? Sure is a Purdy steed. Does it need anything out of the box or tweeking like my 449/511 did or is she a jump on and go bike? Read lots of info and the shootouts on her and she fairs pretty good. Looking for feed back asap. Also what about using mobil 1 0-W40 in her. Thanksimage.jpg

I'd consider an in line fuel filter like zip ty has. Only thing ive really read about with ktms is issues from not having something for that. You bought a FC so you shouldn't need all the tuning done like with your street legal bikes.

Congrats on the new ride. Really want to compare one to the tc449

Start saving money to fix the forks. Some like them, but they seem to be outnumbered by those that hate them. Do a search on 4cs forks.

Have you ridden a KTM? They handle different and are not for everyone. Might want to try on out first.

I think it's rare that any bike is perfect for everyone out of the box. It will likely run better than your 449, but remember also that the trade off is red sticker registration which can possibly affect your access to certain riding areas during the late spring through summer. If you're looking for a race bike, it's a good platform to start with.

Well the red bmw era is over for us. The 449 and 511 are gone. Replaced by a 15 tc 450 and a rmz 450. Looking for some new adventures with my kids as I ride my 14 YZ 450. 449 and 511 were a lot of fun once sorted out, sorry to see them go it was sad walking away from them. My youngest son decided to stay with husky he seems to be a loyal follower of the brand which makes me happy. My oldest has always been a loyal follower of suzuki so both are happy young men. Once 449/511 were sorted and mods were complete they ran great, we had zero issues with them just lots of oil changes. Just wanted to say thanks for all the help from everyone with those bikes but now I will be picking your brains again with the tc 450. Ride on. image.jpg
