  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Tyre combo??

Hey all, went to look at some tyres today. Came away with 2 choices. Michelin s12xc or Bridgestone 404-403's.
Anyone got a preference ??? S12xc are cheap at the moment.
Also the m12 xc anyone tried one??
Cheers and thanks

I run Bridgies and swear by them. Had an M12 on my old WR and din't like it, wore out really quickly and didn't hook up like the Bridgies do. I have 203/404 on my 310 and 203 /204 on my WR. I tend to like the 204 on the rear better for the type of riding I do (clay-read slippery when wet) and seems to wear a lot better than the 404. Apparently S12's on the front can let go without warning on hard cornering , possibly due to the tread pattern, but others swear by them on the rear?. I haven't tried one so can't comment on that.
If you want cheap, just order a pair from RMATV, still a lot cheaper even with shipping to OZ. (probably 200-210 shipped in about 6 days and you can also stock up on other stuff you need at really cheap prices compared to here)

i have the s12 on my bike, on softer terrain and decent soil conditions they frickin rock....but i also have a little mx track here and when it gets dry dusty and hard they suck. i havent tried any others, heard pirrellis are good but not sure as it seems everyone likes different stuff.

I'm on my 2nd set of S12 XC's and must say they are the best I've had for grip and longevity.

all fair my ride hasnt been set up for my weight until now, i should get it back this week sometime from the shop and hope to do some riding this weekend for sure!

I'm running the bridgestone 404/403 and really like them. I'll definately be getting them again when they wear out. Next time I might go 403/402 though since I run a lot of slippery hard junk.

Im currently running a set of Maxxis tyres on my bike I have found them to be a great tyre and hard wearing. Just food for thought. I have just done over 850k's on them and there in not to bad condition.
