  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TXC/TE 310R changes by year

I got to demo a TXC310R over the weekend (Thanks Hall's Cycle!) and I was quite impressed with it. I was all set to buy an EXC but now I'm having second thoughts.

I'm not sure what year the TXC was that I rode but I would have to guess it was a 2014.

I'm wondering what changes have happened to these bikes over the years...I've read enough bits and pieces to know quite a bit has happened to these bikes since 2010. Can anyone provide a break down on the evolution of these bikes? (injection changes, suspension changes/differences, etc) I'm more interested in the TE but would really like to know the differences between the TXC and TE as well. Is a 2014 worth buying over a 2013? That sort of stuff. Thanks!

Yep I rode it too (Fox Valley Offroad) It was a 2014. 2013 and 2014 are the same specs. Or buy my 2012 TE310 which is street legal and converted to a TXC already. They are great bikes and Hall's is great to deal with. Shoot me a PM if you need any info.

I rode it as well but almost thought the tc250 was more fun to play on. Think the 310 would be a better race bike though. I have a wr300 and am getting a second bike, hung up on the 310 or a 165??

The significant change is the redhead head was added in 2013 on the 310 (hence the R designation) prior to that they are black head models (look at the valve cover) EXCEPT the 2012 TC250 was the first redhead. EFI system changed with the redhead introduction also. That said, either version runs well when set up properly; I wouldnt get hung up on the year or red vs black.

2011 - 2013 silver rims
2014 - black rims (these are called 110th anniversary models here in AUS)

If you have multiple late model Huskys you can mix and match rim colors to your delight. My 2011 511 has black, 2013 310 is silver...dont remember what the WR250 is..

Someone from Husky reported that the '14 TE's were going to have CC forks but I have yet to see 2014 TE to have them. Probably the main thing to look for is make sure whatever year you get has the updated starter gears and all else will be good. If you go with a TE it needs to have the TXC ECU style map to run right as well.

All the ones I have seen here in the US have regular TE forks (open cartridge) must be a euro thing? Granted, I have only seen and touched 2 2014 TE 310's so far.

The piston is different on the 2013-14 then the 2012. Not sure what the difference is but different part numbers and aftermarket lists them as different as well. My best guess is deeper valve reliefs from the longer valve stroke.
