  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TXC rad fan?

Irocleis

Husqvarna
B Class
Ok, so when I bought my 11' TXC250 i recieved a box of misc. parts with it. One of the parts was an electric fan. The fan fits perectly on the right side rad and the connector plugs in perfectly to the factory wiring harness connection.... but i never noticed the fan turn on while i had it installed. I guess its possibly the bike was never at a point where it needed the extra cooling but I also looked over part schematics from halls cycle and i seen nothing about a fan being on this bike. So i guess my questions are, did this fan come stock on the txc? How is the circuit made to tell the fan to come on?

Here are some pics....

The TCX and TE 250 both came with a fan. The TC 250 did not have one. Some people remove them because they don't work with some rad guards / braces. Unless you are running very hard in very hot conditions the fan will not run. Not 100% on how the circuit is made but the temp sensor in the back of the block plays a part in it. A good indication of a failed temp sensor is that the fan is running.

I was thinking about which one turns the fan on I forgot if it was the cylinder mounted sensor or the mid rad hose mounted sensor, I was thinking its the mid hose one on my 2013 TXC-R?

Ya the red head has the sensor in the hose. Now that you are running the CV4 hoses your fan may not be as needed with the increased flow. Food for thought.

you really think the hoses make any difference in temps? Also regardless of hoses if your not moving much through a technical section a fan is very nice.

On a black head yes it makes a big difference in flow since the TE comes stock with a crap load of extra hoses, joints and a thermostat which is eliminated once you install the TC cooling hoses.

You still need a fan, even with XF coolant and especially with Nantista since he is too slow to feed air through the radiators... jk :D
The 250/310's are hot running bikes and need plenty of cooling.

the cv4 hoses are a good upgrade then? I can see how this hose arrangement can be less efficient for flow. Who sells the CV4 hoses for the huskys? Preferably a 2011 TXC250 :-)

any publicity is good publicity.....Im slow because I feed too much Italian food through my radiator!

Looks like the HUS-8 to me. But Tinken should weigh in to be safe.

That's what I'm thinking as well. I think I will go with blue to match my RaceTech shock spring. Have you had any negative consequences from eliminating the thermostat?
