  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TXC 511 over heat

Joshua Ford

Husqvarna
AA Class
I have a EFM auto clutch and the coolant is engine ice. The other week the bike ran real strong for about 20 miles and than it started to run like crap than died. I start the bike back up and gave it gas and it just died. After it cooled down it ran good until it heated up. I went home and replaced the temp sensor, which I thought was my issue.
This weekend I started to ride and the bike ran strong about 16 miles into the ride I noticed the clutch was slipping and the bike shut down. I now have the same symptoms as last week, but now the clutch is slipping. I pushed the bike to a river and cooled the bike down. The bike ran good, but the clutch was starting to slip real bad.

Does the TXC 511 shut down if the temp gets to hot? How do I keep the clutch cool? I use Rotella 10w40 oil.

Yes, the TXC511 shuts down when it gets too hot. Switch out EngineIce for XF Coolant, the EI gets too thick to efficiently pump with age and will actually increase over heating. If Rotella is your brand of choice, switch to Rotella T6 5W40. Power up plug installed? May have clutch push rod clearance issues, I'd contact EFM.

Thank you for the response, I am changing my oil to motul fully sinthetic which was recommended by Gary at EFM. The clutch was over heating to to excessive slipping due to my gap. The xf coolant is very interesting, I have always used engine ice but I am always open to change. Have you noticed any disadvantages? Xf coolant sounds very promising. The power up plug... I do think so, this is the plug under the seat?

Your plug is under the air flter, top of the head. SWitch to iridium spark plug. XF works and it's lifetime, never needs to be changed. :)

I do have the power up plug installed. I am currently using the iridium spark plug, and I also have jd tuner. I was looking up older post and I see you are using 0W-40 and 1150cc of oil. What brand, and is it fully synthetic? I am just about to order the new XF coolant later today once I get my oil figured out.

I can vouch for the XF coolant, and the 0/40 Mobil one. These bikes still get hot when you have long periods of
1st gear crawling. But much better using the XF and mobil one. The clutch works better with the Mobil one also.

No I do not track my mpg, although I went 51 miles and the fuel is just about a half of an inch down on the lower tank.

Is the mobile 1 fully sinthetic, semi, or just as is.

For me and a couple of guys who used to ride with me, 1 on a 450RR and 1 on a 500EXC, the Beta got the same mileage as my TE450, 32mpg, his bike and my bike both ran strong and never overheated. The EXC was getting almost 50mpg, and ran rough, and overheated in the slow stuff.
