  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TXC 511: Handlebars are too low!

I currently bent my Magura bars and now I am intent on getting a higher setup. The Husq. bars feel like they are in my lap -especially when I stand. If you have any recommendations on setup or options, I'd appreciate it. I've loved the feel of my KTM mounts for the past 10 years. Thanks a lot.

Your friendly Husqvarna dealer has spacers...at 6' 2" I use them on all my bikes, and I flip the footpegs to lower.

The steering dampener I have raised the bars about an inch or so....kindof killed 2 birds with one stone.

I have been trying to get bar raises from local Husky dealer for weeks now and the only ones they want to supply are factory ones and they want $200 big for them.

How do you lower the foot pegs?

Ouch, that's kinda pricey! I picked up a pair of flexx bars recently (not that they were a cheaper solution), got the 12° Hi enduro bend and the 116mm which raises the grips up by 1 inch. Can't wait to have a ride with a little less vibration and shock.

Call Bryon or Don at Billshusky.com they are a pair of simple spacers.

The best way to flip is using something like a Fastway peg with a pivot collar that removes and that goes above or below the peg platform, or you can cheap cheat, cut the collar, move and hope nothing bends are breaks when you land off a triple jump.

The "Factory ones" for my TXC310 were about $10 and $2 for longer bolts. My shop ordered them from husky and took about a week to get them.

So I did it a bit different I have 1.5 rise but for spacers I used some 1/2" Schedule 120 pipe and painted it. Had to have them before anyone was selling them. But, now I noticed the bike is revving up when I turn the bars all the way to the right. Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do? i have seen some pretty drastic re routs done on sleds and KTMs hoping to avoid that because it can lead to other pinches and problems.

Try adding a little bit of freeplay to your throttle cable. You don't want the grip rattling around on the bars, but you want to have a little bit of freeplay before the throttle engages. Just adjust it with the adjuster right on the throttle housing.

Kyle's right, you can loosen your adjustment on your throttle. Also try to pull some outer cable up around things to make sure you have enough slack around your headset.

My handlebars are up 1.5" with turned aluminum spacers and another inch with 116mm Flexx bars, putting me at 2.5" over stock which is much more comfortable to ride while standing. But in heavy whoop sections Ty and I found the bolt/spacers flexing. This is okay for awhile, but eventually the bolts will break and knowing my luck, certain death. I ended up going to BRP's sub-mount which you can run w/without a stabilizer. CH members get 10% off so we get them for $117. They are cnc machined, and do not flex, very strong, about 1.5" in rise. I actually bought BRP's entire upper triple clamp with this sub mount and it is massive, infinitely stronger than the stock 449/511 which only has one pinch bolt and it was only like a hundred bucks more.

What Tinken said, I have the BRP riser and the Scotts stabilizer. At 6' 2" Not quite high enough so I have been looking at the tallest bars out there.

Not sure if you have seen Flexx bars or not? But you can get them in any shape imaginable and they come in 116mm which is 1" taller than stock. Flexx bars are so unbelievably sucessful on the 449/511 platform (as well as many others), that after taking my 511 for one test ride, Ty Davis signed with Faast to use their flexx bars in racing and development. I use blue soft compression and yellow rebounds with lengthened bolts. Vibration is greatly reduced and wash board roads are a thing of the past. They work progressively with the fork suspension so that light little bumps are absorbed while your forks can still handle 60 mph+ G-outs. Good stuff.

Edit: I use the Enduro bend which is pulled in slightly from the moto style Husky bend. Best to choose what fits you. Cole and Chris are the owners and actually do answer the phones, they would be great to ask for advice.

I have not looked at them but I will now, Thanks.
