  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FE/FC TXC 310 turns into FE 350

310huskyTE

Husqvarna
Pro Class
I went to the bike shop today to talk about the extras i wanted on my 14 TXC 310 that i was getting, next thing i know the "extras" turned into an FE 350! so next Friday i will be picking up a FE 350 instead of a TXC 310, and hitting the dirt with it next Saturday!!

I've agonised for months over these bikes, and wether i would buy one or not because of the KTM thing, but then after looking around at a few other things, i decided that life is to short to get all bent out of shape about the Husqvarna KTM thing and that i wanted to keep riding Huskys no matter who owns or makes them, to keep riding a Husky sooner or later i would have to buy one, and after seeing them in the flesh a few times i decided to buy one sooner rather than later

Yeah who cares, you'll love that thing. You'll need to get another group shot with all your bikes though :). Make sure you give us a review. We won't even see any for about a month...

I'd say, correct, life is too short to worry about who makes a motorcycle brand ... It's been shown over and over out here that all these brands have mixed over and over through time ... Just go get the bike, get it dirty and muddy, and do a ride report of some dirt nature ... Maybe I'll buy this one from you in the future when I can justify buying one :) .... I'm still pretty impressed with what I own now ... Don't forget the ride report and ride safe :)

Funny I just requested a price quote for a Husaberg FE350 (2014) yesterday. $8400 OTD starting in March. There are some rebates starting in March. I am tempted. I like the blue rims but not crazy about the PDS. My plan is to ride my 310 this season and figure out what's available for 2015. Enjoy the new bike:cheers:

PDS can work well, especially if you are not riding super fast terrain. You have to get your static and race sag, spot on though....

Nothing wrong with PDS like Norman says above. Proper sag set up is critical. Plus you always have the option of installing a Progressively wound spring as well.
I run the WP 5810 "Trax" rear shock on my PDS set up with my BMW G450X and the addition of a progressive wound spring (6.6Kg-8.4Kg) From Slavens Racing made all the difference in the world. Total game changer. I couldn't be happier and it's basically maintenance free. No linkage parts to wear out. Just got to keep an eye out for the "Trax" unit on the shock itself. You can ride it anyway you want and it's very compliant in any situation. I tend to ride like a nut now, (for my age that is) compared to the revalved "Ohlins" straight wound set up it had before and it was good then.

It's not a PDS. Husky's have linkage (don't they?)

Yes. My fault for the slight derail here. Earlier in the thread I had mentioned that there are some deals on 2014 Husaberg FE350 ATM. The Bergs are very similar to the new Huskies but the Bergs have PDS

Good luck with you new bike. That bike really looks nice.. I hope you enjoy it, and PLEASE give us a ride report when you can.

They really are a Katovarnaberg. Ktm written in a few places, obviously Husqvarna, and husaberg moulded under the rear fender. None of that matters really, it just means I circled my mates garage in awe of his FC350 yesterday.... that I might get to ride today. :)
These bikes look awesome. They look very refined and well built.

Looking forward to your ride report and 310 comparo.

I've ridden the Husabergs as well a friend of mine has. Ones a 11" 570cc 70* degree engine model and a late model 13 FE 450, both had PDS and worked brilliant where I ride in the high desert in Arizona.

Also sorry about the derail here below but its reality like it or not.

Let us know what you think of the new FE 350 thumper from Husky. I'm going shopping soon myself. My car just got payed off.

Don't be surprised if later models of the Husky bikes come out with their own PDS in 2015 or 2016. I wouldn't be.. The current Motocross style linkage will get bashed around pretty well if something isn't done to protect it hanging down while jumping over logs and rocks. Hopefully the upcoming wider plan from the New Husky bikes will get us an easily platable bike with turn signals and all soon because I'll be getting one right out of the gate. It wouldn't surprise me at all. It would be a good chunk of the market they are missing out on and giving away all of that business to KTM and the Japanese market and a few Italian firms. I'm the only 1 here in my town that has anything close to an Italian dirt bike. My G450X BMW with the Husky engine and KTM forks and WP "Trax Shock". It ain't really Italian but its the only thing close that isn't Jap. Other than one of my Buddies who has the afformentioned KTMs and Husabergs and rows of 4 stroke Hondas and a KDX 230 2'smoker he recently found.

The only other things riding the trails here are Border Patrols quads and BP Horses and the thousands of Mexican 2 footed Mules carrying loads of dope that Quail (scatter) when you run into them on the trail. If they (Cartel Coyotes) don't shoot you or Murder you in some other way such as Booby traps. They leave Quail eggs or (Tonk eggs) all over the place. Tonk eggs = (water bottles). Tonk=(traveler outside native country) or the sound of the noise when hit with an aluminum flash light by the BP agents while fighting them to keep from being apprehended. Depends if you're politically correct or not. I'm not and I'm also not an agent! I'm a civilian welder for the USBP but some of our trails are so littered with tin cans from high protien tuna, sardines, oysters, and bottles of electrolytes and camoflauge painted water jugs it really pisses us riders off big time. Its an absolute travesty of our public lands and a problem that needs to be solved and cleaned up. it's disgusting. Our large camera poles should be outfitted with turrets on something else other than the remote controlled Gimble mounts I help make adapters for the "Electechs" to mount the cameras on. Those adapters could easily be enlarged to fit any number of remotely control apparatus with proper aiming like we aim the cameras occasionally and the night vision scopes also mounted. Theres only 1 item missing in my opinion. Many others in this area would agree, It has a system of twisted grooves in the barrel called rifling. Its great for long distance to reach out and touch someone.

Now enough fantasizing about cleaning up the trails and buying a new Husky and the fear of if my bike breaks down and walking out to the nearest dirt road only to have your bike dissapear of the trail within the hour.

Having turnsignals stock is Not a big deal where I live on the Mexican border here in South Eastern Arizona. The local Cops and laws are so laxed here where I live though, my Buddy just bought a 06' Honda CRF 450R from an Airforce pilot at Davis Monthan Airforce base 120 miles away in Tucson about a month ago. The bike spent most of its unused life formerly in Alaska. He loaded it and took it out to MVD and they gave him plates and registration for on the street use without even looking at it. Insurance also. We have since installed a 90 amp stator assembly and heavier flywheel front headlight/number plate and a rear LED brake and taillight and shaped the license plate to match the fender on my english wheel to attach to his rear fender. We're riding tomorrow.
