• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Tuning Tweaks For Easier Kickstart?

Mucci

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hey folks, I'm working on a 2001 TE570. The bike has been fully rebuilt and it's still a bitch to get started. I've read all the different procedures on how to start these and this one's no different - essentially you have to kick through 10-15 times flip the choke...pull the decomp...throw some salt over your left shoulder yadda yadda. And it still takes 3-5 full swings to get fired up.

I'm not looking for kick proceedure. I've tried them all. I'm looking for tweaks on optimizing the system to start as easy as possible.

Here's the specs/info:

- New plug & wire, getting fat spark
- New rings (gapped within spec with fresh cylinder hone)
- New valves with reground seats
- Motor produces 1% leak after a 500 mile break in
- Ignition timing is set per manual (lining up the tick marks)
- I have the ability to tune AF ratio with wideband 02 - currently at 13.2:1 at idle

Has anyone delved deep into the 570/610 and figure this out?

Thanks,
Dave

The idle afr has stuff all to do with it .
Cold engine first fire needs about 3:1 afr to start

How would you even tune for that? The wideband only reads down to 7.4:1. I get that rich reading within the first few seconds of starting but then it leans out.
