• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

    Thanks for your patience and support!

I installed one of these last week. Trailtech is just down the street from me and I know the owner pretty well. Cool things happening. Anyway this thing is cool / fun. Very adjustable, keeps track of tons of info and has a remote. Today I spliced into the rad hose and installed the temp sending unit. Now i can keep track of running and maximum temps. Very cool.

Even the buttons come in the right color

The instrument cluster on the TEs come with elapsed hours on engine, mph, odometer, trip odometer... and I consider those useful. Does that one come with those functions? Any other important functions to the casual trail rider that needs to ride on the road occasionally?

I think the enduro riders know these things already...

$?

* Speedometer:
o Current Speed
o Average Speed
o Maximum Speed
o Selectable MPH/KPH

* Temperature:
o Ambient Temperature
o Engine Temperature
o Dual Programmable Temp Lights
o Exact Model Fit Temperature Sensors
o Selectable °F/°C Display

* Distance:
o Adjustable Distance
o Permanent Odometer
o Selectable Mile/Kilometer Display

* Clock:
o Hour Meter
o Stop Watch
o Ride Time
o Accumulated Ride Time
o Selectable 12/24 Hour Display

They actually missed some stuff like the lap timers.

Love the remote.

User interface ok? Complicated for the average person who does not want to remember a whole lot?

I've read many that have had trouble with the OEM instrument cluster... hoping this is an on topic thread that can be filed away for the guy who just wants to replace his instrument cluster with something easy to use.

This thread can be about this one particular model, other threads can be for other models, in a section for the instrument / computer so people can get the basics and not get overwhelmed with information.

Like I said the enduro guys live & breath for all the features and already know all this stuff, just looking for the basics for the average rider that just wants something to replace the OEM unit.

I installed a Trailtech Vapor (no remote) a while back. I didn't want it sticking out the front so I sacrificed a couple of 11mm sockets to use as spacers and mounted it on top the bar clamp using longer bolts in the rear holes. Make sense?
The best thing about it is the water temp readout and the pretty blue backlighting

Perfect tiiming. I have been having trouble with my stock speedo on my TE 250. Can you please post a link to trailtech. Does it come with a mount or did you make one for yourself?

My 08-TE450 instrument cluster died after day long ride in the rain. You could see that moisture was on the inside. luckily my dealer replaced it under warranty. I haven't installed the new one yet and was thinking about saving it and installing a Trailtech Vapor.

Maybe I'll order one this week. Does anyone know if it works with stock TE speed sensor? Does it have a Tach function?

Vapor model # 75-102 for a KTM with rad hose temp sensor and OEM speedometer pickup bolted right up to my TXC.

I have given up on my factory trip meter on my WR. What kind of money are you looking at to buy one of these Trail Tech trip meters?

One of those looks like a good alternative for my 06 610TE. The stock unit decides to "go blank" pretty often and the solution is to unhook the battery for a while then when the battery is reconnected the darn thing will remember what it is suppose to do. Even though it's no big deal, I could get along without doing this little exercise.

i have one on my TE610 as well as i hated the stock unit.

blank speedo

Is there a solution to the instruments going blank other than rebooting. Mine did it again today and it's happening more frequently. A PITA...06 610TE.

i disliked the reliability. the functions, the buttons, the fact that it can't be changed while riding and bunch of other stuff. Took it off and put on the TT and LOVE it. Lots more info, change it on the fly, back lit, temp gauge, the list goes on and on.

It looks like the Vector is really nice for a DS. It also appears that there is no turn signal indicator and low fuel warning. Correct?

Can't see replacing the std speedo etc that's crap for another piece of crap...but, that's just me!:mad::rolleyes:

Last comment may be confusing...I was referring to replacing the crap Husky instrument with another Husky piece. Did not intend to infer anything negative about the Vector. Plus, relative to value...the Husky speedo is about $250. So if the Vector does what you want...it's a deal by comparison.
