• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Trail Tech X2 Install Question

Husqvarna
B Class
Installing a Trail Tech X2 on my 08 610 and uncertain about locating the lower locating pins. The way the bottom locating pins line up on the fender bracket the locating holes will have to be drilled on an angle and it doesn't look like the pins will fit in very far to hold the light in place. So I'm looking for feedback (or pictures) from anyone who have mounted an X2 on a TE610.

Thanks,

Dan

a couple little patches of industrial velcro works remarkably well and allows you to adjust the angle of the light

I cut away a section of the fender support bracket to acommodate the pin plate on my 300 (pretty much same fender). It's hard to be surgical in cutting plastic with a cutoff wheel, but it got the job done. Have a look:

I used a Zip tie going through the two locating holes on the bottom of the X2. I ran the zip tie between the fender support and the guard. You can then adjust the bottom of the X2 to the position that you want by moving it forward or back.

If this doesnt make sense then I will take pix for ya.

I can picture what you've described and like the idea. I ended up fabricating a bracket that straddles the fender bracket and provides locating holes for the pins. I haven't had a chance to ride in the dark yet - and won't until, I fix the fuel fitting that I managed to snap off the tank**************************************** :banghead:

Thanks.

Velcro works like a champ and let's you tweak the angle if needed. Handles the rough stuff so far. Did not want to hack on the fender or brace.

I'm about to install the same light on the same bike. Where did you guys relocate the horn and how did you clean up the wiring behind the head light to fit the X2 in place? I understand what the instructions want to install the locating pins but does not seem like a good way to do it on this fender. What are you mounting the velcro to? Pictures would be great if you have any.
Thanks.

I just bent the horn bracket back to give the light more clearance. I put the velcro on the fender brace and on the bottom of the headlight assembly. It is a snug fit.

Yep, that makes it real EZ.
You would imagine the fender brace is there for a purpose ... doh to brace the fender...which already bounces around considerably at speed. Why compromise it further by cutting or removing if there are other practical solutions?

I tried to bend the horn bracket back but didn't seem to give me enough room. Starts to get in the way of the throttle cables even when I tuck them behind the horn. I have moved my wiring around and its still a very snug fit. I have also found that the top left rubber strap bumps against the left side of the tank when bars are turned full lock to the left. I just find that back cover on the X2 to be so big it gets in the way to work right.
