• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TR650 Crash bars

Starting a dedicated thread because there is discussion about crash bars going on in some other threads and it's causing them to go off track and the discussion is a bit fragmented. Maybe a mod could go through the threads "Crash Test Dummy" and "TR650 Mods" and move the crash bar discussion into this thread.

A heads up for anyone in Australia, Motorrad Garage in Perth are the Australian distributor for SW motech. The word from them this week was that the TR650 gear didn't hit their catalog in time for their most recent order, so it'll go on their next order (I presume they do 1 order per month). Also because of the size of these things they will probably not be shipped airmail, so a rough ETA is about 12 weeks away which will make it about May/June.

Great idea. I was worried about that too. People who buy TR's in the future would be a lot less confused and frustrated.

I would be interested in a set of bars. I really like the look of the SWMotech bars, but haven't been able to find them. Looking forward to their availability and hoping for other options very soon.

Here's Twisted Throttle's response:

Hey Ryan,

The crashbars for the TR650 will be available from us soon. We will be adding them into our system here either this week or next week, but the actual product will not be available for at least another 4-6 weeks. If you'd like to order a set of these, please give us a call sometime next week, or if you'd prefer, I can call you once the information is in our system. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,

Eagerly waiting for them to be "in the system"...thnx****************************************!

Sure hope they get enough of them in their first shipment.

Just looked on Hepco Becker site and they have a rear alloy rack, engine crash guards and bag mounts and a center stand avail with pricing but no pictures.

Reply from them regarding pics....

Kevin,
We are still in the development phase for that bike. Pictures will be posted as soon as the parts become available. My best guess is that parts will not be ready for another month.
Thanks, Ed
Sincerely,
Moto Machines

Did you get ahold of them? I looked yesterday and still didn't see the bars listed.
My SWM dealer quoted 14 days availability, saying first batch of bars is just in SWM's German warehouse. Ordered.

EDIT: went to their German site and, voila, it is '1-3 days availabilty' (for Germany) now  Should be in around the world soon. Same for skid-plate.

Australian SW Motech importer told me big items like racks and crashbars all come via sea freight, so they're not expecting SWM stuff in Australia for another 12 weeks. I think I asked right after they had put in their monthly order, and that timeframe was on the basis that they wouldn't put their next order in ahead of schedule.

Would love to hear from Altrider about their ETA on crashbars and skid plate  Mine are on order, and if you have been reading my recent posts you all know I need 'em :)

I dont know if it matters to you out there across the pond, but I got my SWMotech bars well over three weeks ago. Waiting to be mounted.

Was going to mention that I ordered crash bars and skid plate from Altrider as did my friend Strada Demolitionist! I really don't think I will go off road till they arrive!
