  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Top end rebuild questions

I'm starting my first top end job on a Husky now. I was wondering what most people are using for gaskets, stock or is anything available from the aftermarket. Also My bike has the V-Force 2 and the reeds are starting to crack. Is there any value in changing to the V-Force 3? Thanks!

cant comment on your rebuild questions, but where are you located? theres a few huskies just over the border here

I believe athena makes a gasket kit for the huskys. I've found it easier to buy gaskets through husky dealers.

As far as a performance standpoint, I doubt it on the reeds. You might get a bit more top end. However, I liked the adjustability of the vforce 2 system. Having the brackets flipped for more bottom/mid made a decent difference.

If your still running the stock mikuni, I would opt for a powernow in place of swapping to a vforce 3. I noticed after installing a lectron I had the same gains as the powernow valve however. If your interested in that I can't remember the year, but a honda cr250 powernow fits the mikuni.

it has been a long time, but around 10 years ago i was out there maybe a half dozen times...i rode at 846 bayview public riding grounds and still ride there nowover by transfer pa. its free and about 200 acres. a bunch of single track, quad trails, and some moderate hillclimbing in the woods...nothing very had tho..

Well, I ordered a V Force 3 and it turns out I have one of the "old" cylinders which does not fit a "3". So I'll be ordering replacement reeds for the V2.
